Would be great if you wrote such a review! Please do!
  2. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Hi S-Pin, have you played a bit more with 7PC? Any new insights as to how it performs?
  3. Need opinions on Hinoki blades

Me and others have answered some of the questions in this thread here: https://www.tabletennisdaily.com/forum/topics/should-i-upgrade-my-all-wood-5-ply-kiso-hinoki.32637/page-2#post-438665
  4. Rubber advice for child.

My son who also turns 12 this year has played with the same Ligna all blade for two and a half years, first with Chinese rubbers, then with Vega Europe. We have recently upgraded his blade, because it was not stable enough for his backhand. He plays three times a week so he has made quite a lot...
  5. Viscaria with more control

Lighter Viscaria or maybe something like Nexy Eucrasia (koto top innerforce alc).
  6. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Speedwise the 5P is probably a tad slower than the 7PC, especially on harder shots. The 5P has a stronger hinoki kick and thus feels less stable than the 7PC, which has more control. I played the 5P for a few years. The 7PC is better for blocking, smashing, counter spins and for backhand...
  7. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Yes, combining the RZ with your Acoustic will certainly result in a controlled and very spinny topspin blade. But it might also lack power for harder killing shots. I mean it all depends on what you prefer and what your playing style is. If you want to loop like hell this could be the real deal. 😊
  8. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

This is a very good description of the blades properties. I would say it’s faster than Korbel, especially when you hit harder. I play close to the table with counters, blocks and quick attacks. This blade provides a lot control for this kind of game. I have also played boosted tacky rubbers on...
  9. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

All three have the same structure: core=vertically >carbon> medial ply=horizontally>top ply=vertically There are no differences between the these three blades apart from the weight (87, 88, 90g) and the shape of the handle (the newest has a rounder handle). I don’t think that one would...

I've done that already. He is the picture again.
  11. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

No, I haven’t. Do they have spruce top plies? I always wanted to try the Andro Ligna CI or CO. Feeling is said to be similar.
  12. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Okay, thanks for asking. So maybe Darker has changed the blade around 2018/19? The 7PC is quite an old blade. I have found pictures of it in Darkers 2005 catalogue, so nearly 20 years or perhaps even older. The 7P-2A is also 6.5 mm btw.

Wow! The inner EJ kicks in imediately 🤣🤣
  14. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

My blades had the same glossy dark blue box. It's Darkers standard box for their blades now, all the new non-hinoki blades come in this box, too. I bought my first 7Pc three years ago. One from Nishoi and one from TT11. But that doesn't tell very much. They might have been in their stock for...
  15. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Maybe yes, but 1ply hinoki blades have, apart from being very expensive and fragile, too special properties for most players (chunky, very fast, high throw, very bouncy).
  16. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Yours is certainly the older version. If I had to guess I would say it must be at least eight years old or even older. Maybe Darker has changed the composition of the 7PC with the introduction of the plastic ball, but who knows. Darker has only two lenses/ logos which they randomly use for...
  17. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Interesting. Your 7PC is the old version. How old is it, do you know that? Darker uses a much thicker core and thinner outer plies in the new one. Yours is probably even softer than the new one since the carbon sits deeper. Attached a foto of the new version.
  18. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

There is a dealer in the UK that sells five ply hinoki blades. Nexy had the Tamar series with Tamar V, VII and IX. But they have been discontinued a long time ago.
  19. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Here are my 2 cents. You won’t have flex with hinoki blades. Only thinner 5plies have flex or thinner composite blades like Long 5 etc. The simple reason for that is that Hinoki blades are normally really thick. Most of the Darker Hinoki 2A-series blades for example are 6.5 mm thick, the 7t is...
  20. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

I have changed from Darker 5P-2A to 7P Carbon because the 7PC is much better for my backhand, it has a larger sweet spot and a better stability. If the OP has a similar problem a change might help. The 7PC is an offensive blade, but by no means as crazy fast as for example Hinoki-Carbon-Kiri...
