Why did China not field Wang Manyu after she saved them against India?

It could be a misconfiguration. The official website of Daiki Rubber was once configured to Japan's IP only.

Didn't realize WMY came from such humble roots.

Chinese media don't seem to do a good job of conveying stories of their players for international audiences. If WMY was in Japan, there would be several human interest segments about her on TV Tokyo and fans would all know her dad's name.
I recall a video where WMY's coach was interviewed after she won WTTC 2021. WMY expected a big celebratory hug but her coach simply said "it's all been done before". Usually they'll say things like this championship was really hard to come by we went through so many tough periods blah blah blah. That interview felt off and maybe I'm connecting dots where there aren't any but maybe they were trying to downplay her achievement.

As everyone anticipated Chen Meng to achieve a grand slam victory, Wang Manyu unexpectedly defeated her in the semifinals. This marked the moment when she became perceived as an "adversary" within the team.

It's not that the CTTA isn't adept at promoting athletes; rather, she is not part of the politically favored 'planned sports' category. She is a talented, hardworking athlete with a sense of humour. I'll translate some interviews, more table tennis enthusiasts will get to know her.
