Great review, Lazer!
I'm deciding between this one or the Waldner in the same series. With the Appelgren I'll try Donic Bluestorm Z2 as FH rubber, and Z3 on BH. If I buy the Waldner, it's Z3 on both sides. How do you think that sounds?

Waldner is a little faster and stiffer, I still think Z3 is too soft for FH on any blade. May even be too soft for BH. I used Accuda S2 and Bluegrip Z2 on BH. They were on the soft side as well. Now the Z sponge is a bit harder than S sponge…

The point is Do you consider yourself an allround player choose Appelgren. Do you consider yourself a mostly offensive player choose Waldner. Do you consider yourself an outright offensive only player choose Persson…

One more thing. I found out that Nittaku S-CZ is made by the same company (soulspin in Germany) and is almost identical. I am now using a S-CZ as my main blade with H3 prov 39 Orange on FH and 729 Dragon F on BH. I will eventually redress the Appelgren an alternate between the two.

Maybe Donic Bluestorm Z2 or Bluefire M2 on FH then? It will be my first carbon blade, until now I have only used all wood rackets.

The M sponge is more aggressive and harder than the S sponge.

What about the Z-sponge? In between M and S?

Don’t really have a feel for that, but it should be faster and harder than S at least. If you go to Donics homepage and look in their catalog they have a pretty good description of all their rubbers and blades. It all makes sense after reading…

Hi Lazer, have you used the Waldner WC? I know it's faster, but is it significally faster than the Appelgren?

Haven’t used it, also it’s an inner where Appelgren is an outer. The flex + spruce + an outer carbon layer is what makes it special IMO. Look at Donics homepage their data is very good.

Appelgren: 7 plies made of kiri (core ply), ayous (2+4), carbon fleece Zylon (3+5) and spruce (1+7, outer ply)
Waldner: 7 plies made of kiri (core ply), carbon fleece Zylon (2+4), spruce (3+5) and spruce (1+7, outer ply)

According to Donics website, Appelgren seems to be an inner construction and Waldner outer?
