I am new to table tennis and would like to seek advice about cleaning the rubbers. The sales person at the shop strongly recommends not to use water to clean the rubbers but to use the rubber cleaners, our sweats or our breaths. Is that true?
Also, what kind of soft sponge I should use to clean the rubbers cause mine seem not tacky and the protector seems not sticking well.
Thanks.

All those options are fine. If you are going to use water, use it sparely so that it doesn’t damage the blade. I use just any table tennis cleaning agent and the soft side of a dishwashing sponge.

If your rubber is non sticky use the sticky covers and vice versa.

Hi, I have a question about the cleaning of rubbers. I tried to use a little bit of water on my Xiom Vega Europe rubber to clean and wipe using the soft sponge, but it failed to stick well with my rubber protector (Donic) especially the side of the rubber. It's a new rubber and I have only used it once.

Is there any possible reason why it is not that tacky due to the way I clean it or the need to use the rubber cleaner instead?

Vega Europe isnt and shouldn't be tacky.

cleaning with water is the best way, as long as you let it dry properly. your protector should be the tacky one.

you might've slapped it on when the rubber wasn't fully dry or got dust in it.

Yeah I will try to get a new protector. Thanks.
No point, unsticky protectors don’t stick well to sticky rubbers. Sticky one does. But there is another problem with sticky protectors. They collect dust. Just put them on as good as you can and put the racket in a case and it will be fine.

What do you mean by do not put a new rubber without the handle hanging off the edge?
I'll have to make another video on equipment talking about this and other like stuff.

As accurately as I can describe it in written form, when you finally put new rubbers on, have the face of the blade on the end of the table, if the handle is not completely hanging off the end, its easy to break the handle when rolling it.
