the blade i use atm should always be what fits my ideal gameplay the most, and also based on what ive liked based on the blades ive played in the past
i am a FH dominant powerlooper/fast attack player first and foremost (penhold, duh) so i tend to enjoy hard outerply blades (walnut, rosewood and koto) as they have good feeling and good control for how fast these blades tend to be
however the more i improve i tend to gravitate towards equipment that is more well-rounded and versatile
i am currently using the stiga intense CCF (stiga intensity NCT upgrade with CCF carbon) and i am enjoying it because it has what i am looking for; a blade in the middle of the previous blades ive used
my previous main blades for reference;
1) yasaka goiabao 5, 5 ply allwood blade with an outerply thats somewhat similar to rosewood but harder.
i love this blade for its fast attack potential but for me it takes too much effort to make above average spin and at times the low throw angle of the blade works against you.
not good at handling low power balls at all.
very picky blade when it comes to rubber pairing, tensors cant be paired with this blade. rakza 7 on BH felt very uncontrollable and bottoms out without effort.
2) yasaka atletico spin, 5+2 carbon blade with koto outerply, the carbon layers are thinner than ur average carbon blade.
the spin this blade can generate is really deceptive and the blade is a dream for anything RPB related, it has good control too. this blade is really good at defending, blocks are effortless and lobs have a high landing rate.
only problem would be power from middle distance. despite the long trajectory, i find it really hard to overpower anyone if i fall back to middle distance. smashes are also weird with this blade, at times the ball would just hit the net randomly. flat hits are whatever.
coming back to stiga intense CCF, the new blade im using has a good enough compromise for me to stick to using it. if anything it more closely resembles my goiabao 5 in feel, but it has a much healthier throw angle, the CCF carbon helps a bit with weak balls in a way the goiabao 5 can't and the spin i can make is only slightly worse than the atletico spin.
most importantly i feel like i am not limited by the blade im using. it feels like the more i put into the ball, the higher the quality of my shots. for goiabao 5 i can't just add strength whenever i want or risk overshooting the ball. for atletico spin it is the opposite, it feels like the ball quality wouldnt be any better if i hit past a certain threshold of strength and effort.
