Hi,

So I am looking to satisfy my EJ needs with a real golden viscaria and a real w958 no.1-2 . I am looking for real sources to buy these blades.

There's also some thailand seller who clearly is selling alot of custom modified w968 and golden viscarias that are clearly not genuine.
I have been a Prott customer but lately I have doubt their items are the best, it looks like whatever does not pass quality control will be sold by prott.

I bought a asymmetrical FZD ALC from prott, top ply on FH was visibly much thicker than top ply on BH , clearly a quality control issue
Also the digital w968 I bought felt similar to a long 5 with bigger head. no major difference.

W968, is supposed to be build with wood from very old trees, making much stronger, faster, crysp.

So any suggestion where a European can buy these blades?

Thank you,

Commercial and provincial w968 does not have even closer feeling to W968. It’s like a completely different blade. If you take Q968 then it’s closer and does not make lots of sense to get national version - at least this is my experience

Have not tested S968 vs commercial but I saw very poor quality of commercial blade.

For #1 and #2 you have to find a local guy in China and prepare 1000$

For golden Viscaria is the same

Not sure what you mean with commercial w968 ,

There's Long 5 , Provincial Long 5 , National Long 5 (w968 number 11-32) , and player versions long 5 w968 or single digit numbers .

I owned Long 5 , WCQ Long 5 , SYS long 5 , and Natinal long 5 no 32.

You will never be able to prove any of it, because what you are trying to buy is stuff that is not meant to be commercially available.

Nobody can prove that Golden Vis isn't just a swapped tag. And w968 is simply meant for the pro players. Whatever you can buy is just not going to be the good ones, because those get selected by the pros. Which means the available ones are pretty much always going to be B grade, and that's considering the nice route. The worse route is fakes, sure, but also selling items that didn't pass quality testing.

It's like buying F1 car parts. You're not gonna get the ones they use, because they use those.

I'm aware, thats why I am asking if I can somehow procure from a safer place.

They all go to the CNT, Provincial teams and sponsored athletes. None of them are made for the commercial market. The number is a batch number for the CNT and has no bearing whatsoever on grade or performance or quality or anything. The letter is a batch number for the Provincial teams.

Out of those they'll select the good ones for themselves and the distributors will get sent a few scraps, let's say 5 blades a month. I guess you could call those "Commercial versions", but they're still the exact same blades as the ones the pros use. They just might not be as good, or they might be as good and just got left over.

The only actual real source AFAIK is to either get one off a player or to find one of those official DHS suppliers who get a few blades a month and special-order one of those, and maybe a good one will be a #1 or #2, but realistically it doesn't matter. If someone's selling a new W968 online and they're not a distributor or friends with a player then they're selling a fake.

Inner peace

Inner peace is expensive but at least you get the bonus inner peace that what you got is about as genuine is possible and not think "man this does not auto-win must be a fake", for golden viscaria you really need to know the pros or just get a blade maker to make one for you, its a viscaria with a thicker core not some military secret tech after all.

There’s a big difference between questioning a site for selling worse quality control official products and saying they are straight up fake.

Of course a Chinese seller will probably be closer to getting the national teams returned products rather than TT11 that is an official DHS distributor, that does not mean their products are fake or custom modified. I’ve had 4 different W968 of the different versions, both from TT11 and Prott, and there were no differences between them quality control wise or legitimacy.

There is also a huge difference between buying a randomly picked FZD ALC from China and a Golden Viscaria, as their thickness and top ply will be noticeable different with serial numbering, not to say that a randomly picked FZD ALC is probably not perfect

I also don’t know what a digital W968 is? Do you mean letters/provincial?

The only safe place is to know a pro player that uses it and asking them for one

It is really this simple even if it isn't the answer EJs want to hear. Qualifying this post with the fact that I have several friends who are sponsored to the level of getting customization from major brands, I can assure any small batch blades/rubber that were made for a certain player will not reach the commercial pool, because they were either picked by the player, saved as a backup, or if they were full rejects, those are still going to someone who works for the company, friends/family, VIPs, private sponsors, industry insiders, lower-ranked sponsored players of the same company, etc... There are so many other people in line before it would get to an online retailer who could advertise that they sell the product with any regularity such as ProTT.

Also, any player who was consistently sending his/her equipment to an online retailer on the side, would get in extreme trouble with the sponsor.

Even if those full rejects hit the market, they're still full rejects for a reason. So no, they will not be the same quality that the top players *actually* use.

If you want to play what the top player uses, there's only one source where you can get the actual thing and that's the player themselves. And even then, they will probably only give or sell a blade when they feel it's no longer up to standards.

Let's entertain the idea that one actually manages to get a good, functioning blade from a top player. Then what?

Top players don't have equipment that's perfect in every single area. That's a mythical thought feeding equipment junkies forever. A top player will be using the best possible blade - for the occasion.
Depending on the venue there are changes in the power, spin, bounce.
Depending on the opponents they may have to pick between covering a weakness or amplifying a strength (usually, in top sports, the choice is the latter though).
Depending on physical condition, injuries, stamina, they may have to pick something to cover a weakness or play their strength.

A top player's choice of blade is almost always a compromise tailor made to fit them, not the EJ trying to get their blade.
And then there's still personal preference. Handles, vibration, all kinds of stuff that influence the feeling rather than the performance.

So if you manage to indeed get that mythical unicorn of a top player's blade, in a good condition, there's a much bigger chance of it not being a good blade for you than it being that actual, mythical, perfect fit.
Because they are top players and have 10x the hours of training. They have a top level physique, technique, and understanding of what they do. They have their own playstyle, and also top level opponents that they have to account for.

Even if I could own and legally drive an F1 car, there is zero chance that it will make me drive like an F1 driver. Not even a single percent. In fact, driving it is more likely to make me feel like a complete loser, I'd probably fail to even engage the clutch and spin on the first turn.
