OT: Your impressions of the Vega China VM [XVC] sounds very intriguing. Since many (most prominently and cunningly: @victormanriquey) is very much in favour of using H3N as a intermediate FH rubber for developing technique, I guess XVC would be that as well? It goes a bit against the (older?)...
Having read up a bit on balsa, the opinions seem very divided. Is it true that it is more non-linear and less predictable? Or would that be nullified by the carbon? And it seems to be regarded a very stiff material, which could seem like the opposite of what a “soft carbon” blade should be...
So, this instagram post popped up, announcing a softer carbon blade from Stiga.
Basically a very light 5+2 blade with balsa core and Koto top layer. Now, it sounds like he’s saying outer carbon, but I suspect he means just outside the core. Because, comparing the normal Cybershape Carbon and...
Hav you tried the Xiom Hayabusa ZL Pro? It is basically the HAL, but the inner fibre instead of outer. Same speed, but more flexible and more hold. Reason asking is I have the HAL, it’s probably a tad fast for me but I really like the feel and the handle (more than the Persson Powerplay).
Just slightly off-topic: How would you guys compare G1 with Glayzer 09c (G09c)? Myself considering a more linear FH rubber, probably not yet ready to go Chinese …
@victormanriquey – again, truly solid article, read it for the third time now.
One rubber that I saw you mention just briefly somewhere is the Hurricane 8 – this seems also to be meant as the H3N if you don’t want to boost. Why is it you don’t list it as an alternative for FH? And furthermore...
An elaborated opinion from you on the Cybershape Wood would internest me to great extent. Your general impression, how it fits an advanced beginner/developing player and how it fits with your philosophy of FH/BH rubber setup (from other thread). Right now playing Hugo HAL but considering...
Very good info. So do you think Dignics 09c can be a good FH rubber if going the semi-chines way? Grouping it together with H3 and Vega China ?
Could you also elaborate shortly on difference between Glayzer 09C and Dignics 09C please?
Yes, but I think it would be clearer, both in the blogpost...
Addendum to my first post:
A spinoff from the thread theme, regarding age, time, and choices
In another thread about Hurricane 3, it was described as “a young man’s rubber”, referring to the amount of physical effort required to fully unlock its potential. Thinking about myself, I realistically...
Thank you @victormanriquey for a very nice and thoughtful collection of blog posts — I have now indulged in all of them.
It seems that you recommend around 52–54° hardness on the forehand, even for beginners. I find this both interesting and intriguing.
As someone with many, many hours of table...
Thanks. Your experience is in accordance with Ttgearlab. However, he also states that Zl Pro will always feel (and be) faster than Hugo HAL, is that also your feeling?
How would you describe the differences between ZL Pro and Hugo HAL – in feel, performance, speed, dwell, looping and in general – not taking price into account? (Considering ZL Pro as backup to HAL.)
