Hesitation is very common. Everyone gets nervous and tight whatever level you play at. So welcome to the club! 😊 I suppose the first thing to quantify is can you flick off both sides with a good percentage?. This is key before moving on to all the nuances of other strokes/spin changes etc...

I would suggest that that maybe you aren't recovering from your previous stroke so well or deciding/moving even before you have reset to see the next line of attack. Training some irregular crosscourt /line drills would be beneficial. Also what type of level are you playing if you don't mind...
