Yes, it does.

For side spin, it is achieved by manually rotating the NOVA head. Compared to the up-and-down spins, adjusting to different angle settings will produce the corresponding type of spin.

I think no one can beat it for this price, at least not for now. And I don't think it's odd that the robot is sitting on the table to play with. Anyway, it's just my personal experience and thoughts. If you are hesitant, better check out more reviews online from other users.
