Back in 2018 everyone thought he will win many more the next few years but then he stagnated somehow. I'm glad he won his second, it's well deserved. Togami could have won another one with 8? match points though.
This is the second Japan Table Tennis Championships win for Togami. He struggled in international competitions last year, I hope he can improve. Shinozuka looked more dangerous last year in the few tournaments he played. It's a pity only one of them can play singles in Paris, imho they should...
I did not expect a Harimoto tournament win. What is the name of his new coach? His coach looks so calm, it seems like it boosted his performance in this tournament.
He is taller and heavier which I guess wasn't helpful for his close to the table play. He couldn't really improve his footwork during the last years, he has technical deficiencies on his forehand and I think his service and overall play isn't flexible enough. Other young players like Moregard or...
Embarrassing from Harimoto but nothing new, we know that he is not as good anymore and he can lose against many players now, it's hardly a surprise. His increased body size and weight made him worse. I think Togami Shunsuke has a bigger potential in the next years but he lacks experience.
I'm impressed by Togami, what a player. I don't think this win is a fluke, I really think he is the best japanese player right now when he plays like this. In contrast to Harimoto his footwork and upper body movement is so much faster which helps him from behind the table and in defense. Great...
Harimoto won both junior and mens competition in 2017 and everyone including me thought he is the next dominator in Japan the following years. Surprisingly he never won the all Japan after 2017. For whatever reason his development didn't go in the right direction since then. At the moment he is...
Harimoto seems bigger than last year (more muscular).....but also his movement seems slower than before. The playstyle from 3 years ago doesn't work for him.
Maybe the opponents are better prepared against him, the same happened to Harimoto. He was very successfully very early on in his career and now all of his oppnents are well prepared. They are aware of his weaknesses and strengths. Probably not the only reason but partially could be.
