  1. Do I need to lacquer my blade?

To my understanding of physics and biology the sweat itself will eventually seal the handle with a thin layer of dust+sweat (minerals and fat)+grinded small wood particles.
  2. Do I need to lacquer my blade?

I used Rev 3 lacquer on some parts of the handle and doesn't feel too slippery to me, but I use a grip anyway so I don't care about that. IMO a good quality grip tape feels much better than the bare wood, but that's a decades old debate so each to their own. I did used a thin layer of nittaku...
  3. What are the best scissors to cut rubber?

In other news, I just received this one from Ali Express and it cuts through the rubber like butter. The green one (160) - the price when I ordered was around $3. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008886390470.html
  4. cutting knives for rubber

Yes, I also use 2 layers on the rubber, just that they need to be thin layers, or maybe I need to pay more attention spreading it without having the lines too thick so they won't show up on the rubber. I have a racket from tt11 and it is spotless - I've heard they use only one layer on the rubber.
  5. cutting knives for rubber

Use thin layers of glue, and spread it as evenly as possible using whatever tool at your disposal to avoid bumps. I messed up on my first gluing job - put too much glue and it came out with lots of bump lines in the rubber.
  6. Best racket case?

I use protection foil (donic formula) on both rackets inside the cover, and also I drop some silica gel packs inside for moisture control. When I apply the foil I use the side of my phone to slide it up so it will stick with no air bubbles.
  7. Best racket case?

For 6 euros it does its job quite well: I can fit a small cleaning solution bottle (30 or 50ml), a sponge and 4 balls in the pocket. Yes, there's also space for 2 rackets inside. https://www.decathlon.de/p/schlaegerhuelle-ttc-130-schwarz/_/R-p-331961?

  9. What are the best scissors to cut rubber?

Just a heads-up for anyone using a scalpel or a cutter - when you cut, do it on a piece of glass if you want a clear cut. I just used a cutting mat and almost ruined my rubber due to the scalpel going deep into the mat, going astray, and being very hard to correct.
  10. What are the best scissors to cut rubber?

Have you tried Swann Morton blades? Do you manage to cut in one go, or take multiple passes? Also Kai and Canary are good brands, take a look at this bad boy
  11. What are the best scissors to cut rubber?

Can you please describe what you mean by flexible = small overlap?

What cover is that? Looks cool.
  13. What are the best scissors to cut rubber?

That's what Ovtcharov is using: Unfortunately its neither available on Aliexpress nor amazon or other western outlet. But it looks quite similar to some Kai models (N3160s), not sure if the blade will behave the same. I'm looking for a solution to cut the rubber with a 2mm edge outside the...
  14. Choosing Blades and Rubbers for a Beginner Table Tennis Player

I had the same dilemma not too long ago, and after some research and also talking to 2 coaches I have chosen almost the same route you did - YSE + R7/R7s (2.0 both). I was advised to chose Rakza7 soft for the backhand because it has more control and that will allow me to stay motivated to...
  15. Butterfly 05fx alternatives

BTY is only doing what they can to make sure their customer gets what their customer orders, not some cheap knock-offs sold as original. If people would stop faking BTY products then sure, there's no point in controlling the distribution. But that, unfortunately, will never happen - any...
