  1. Harimoto family name

I saw that the Harimoto siblings were born in Sendai, Japan, but their parents immigrated from China in the 90's. They adopted the family name Harimoto when they became naturalized Japanese citizens. I wondered how they chose the name 'Harimoto', and here's my theory. I don't speak/read...

  3. PanAm Games Santiago 2023

Does anybody know where to find video of games played in Santiago 2023? I found a live feed, but not recorded video of past games. The live feed covered Adriana Diaz's game, but not the simultaneous game between Mo Zhang (CAN) vs Amy Wang (USA), which was a 4-0 upset for Zhang...
  4. Service rule question

Is the receiver allowed to move during during the service motion, even if the motion may be distracting to the server? I mean jump up and down, side to side, or forward/back, and maybe make an arm motion.
  5. Darker

http://www.darker.co.jp/ Looking through their 2022 catalog, they apear to make blades in FL/ST/CHN/JP handles... did not see anything in AN.
  6. Cellulose nanofibre

Exactly!!! This is why I'm surprised this material isn't more popular. Maybe cost is an issue? But then, the Darker blades are much lower cost than the Revoldia.
  7. Cellulose nanofibre

Because you want a bit more power from mid distance?
  8. Cellulose nanofibre

Some time ago, Butterfly came out with the Revoldia, and Darker came out with a few blades made with cellulose naofibre (Auroveil CNF). The benefit was supposed to be to get a wood feel on close to the table shots, but more power than just wood from a distance. I got a Darker Cegna and loved...
  9. Miu Hirano is back!?

Miu Hirano beat Mima Ito in the quarterfinals, then Hina Hayata in the finals of the 2022 Zen-Noh Cup Top 32 (Paris Olympics selection tournament). Does this mean Hirano is back? Both Ito and Hayata have already qualified for Team Japan, so were they just taking it easy? I don't think so...
  10. Service strategies

OK... after reading all your comments and watching some youtube videos, I tried a new service strategy that seems to work as I hoped. I used to like pendulum serves, and I would expect the return to come somewhere to my BH side with underspin, most of the time. Then I could step around and...
  11. Blade sealer test

Thank you for this, very useful, as usual from you. Would you recommend sealing the handle, as some people do, to prevent moisture accumulation that can change the weight balance of the blade? Or would that make the handle too slippery?
  12. Service strategies

That is a great video of Juanito! 😄 I proves that a good serve strategy will work even against (former) a World Champion!
  13. Service strategies

This is getting to my point. One of my strong serves is pendulum short with heavy underspin. In the first few serves, a lot of people will receive into the net, or push long and high, which I can attack. But by the second set, decent players will start to receive short with underspin, so I...
  14. Service strategies

One of my favourite players to watch is Miu Hirano (yes, I like watching female players as much or more than the men!). I seldom see her doing anything but a hook serve. She can do that so well, she gave the top Chinese players hell with it in the 2017 Asian Championships. Now, everybody in...
