Hello TTD peeps,

I play table tennis recreationally in a club with a classic All-wood ( 5 ply ) blade. But passionate about it. Been 7 years on it.

I am looking for a FH rubber. I 'll list the equipment details below:

I currently use a blade named: Butterfly Hadraw VK (Koto outer plies with probably spruce as core?!?!)

FH: Rozena 2.1
BH : Rakza 7 2.0

My backhand needs improvement so m sticking with Rakza 7 for now, as I need to learn a lot of strokes, might go to max here..if more power needed

For FH.... the progression of rubbers over the years looks as follows: Mark V> Andro Hexer Duro > Yasaka Rakza 7 2.0 > Butterfly Rozena

Why am I looking for a new FH rubber?

2 things, firstly rozena has started to be dead. ( Been 6 months on it .. 3 days a week for 3 hrs)
and I kind of have struggled on Rozena at 2 fronts...

Short pushes.. too reactive at times and too springy when spinning topspins,, ( so forehand arm swing goes restricted to compensate) and yes my blade is head heavy wuth rozena and rakza currently need to change that too.

Good things on Rozena (Excellent for blocking , countering, and kill shots, and yes high margin for error)

Reuqesting recommendations here.. (What I like.. A rubber like rakza 7..softer topsheet medium hard sponge.. which helps to put topspins on backspins.... but yes more powerful.. and higher throw..)

basically looking for a bit slower alternatives to rozena.

Rubbers I researched: Tibhar Genius Supreme, Xiom Vega Pro / Korea, (No idea on Donic rubbers), Maybe Stiga Mantra M?!?1?

Hope the info helps

Have you considered the new Rakza 7 hard?
This could work out if the OP likes tensors and R7 indeed, which is why @DBsystem78 Q is important.
Fastarc G1 is more powerful and spinny than Rakza 7, and less bouncy than Rozena in the short game. The tradeoff is that you will need to play more actively to get that from it.
From the normal tensors perspective, this is also one of the candidates I'd say. Otherwise you can go into hybrids but im not sure if the OP likes sticky rubbers :)

And keep the hadraw, it has enough gears for some more years :D

I prefer normal inverted rubbers.

I don't like the Chinese tacky rubbers.

Also I prefer the rubbers lighweight so that my raquet remains balanced.

Medium hard sponges as I believe hard sponges have dense sponges which add more weight

On a hardness scale that would be probably (45 degrees). I don't know much you can check the history of rubbers I have used, maybe that gives an idea.

may make the raquet even more head heavy.

Also, has anyone here used Genius supreme , Xiom Vega Pro/europe, stiga mantra ?

I checked them and they are easily available to buy near me.. so I was wondering if anyone has used it and how they compare with Rozena, Rakza 7

Fastarc G-1 I have no clue about .But what I have heard is it's a heavy rubber.

I have no problems using more stroke. Rozena has restricted me to compact strokes.

As soon as I switch to Rakza I can swing my arm fully , the only problem being power( i.e speed) and somewhere a tad more spin.

I may have used grippy rubbers ( spare my knowledge here.. maybe Andro Hexer duro was like that).

I don't like Chinese rubbers.. i.e dhs hurricane.. as I do not have that technique plus they are heavy.

Sole purpose is to keep your feet and you nimble quick to attack block change from BH to FH

I've used multiple Rakza 7 and G1 sheets and there is a 1-2g difference at most.

If you are comfortable with making committed strokes on your FH and you like the Rakza 7, I would say the G1 is a very natural step up. Vega X would also be.

Haven't played with the Vega Pro myself but most people put the Pro and Vega X in a similar performance category. If that's accurate then any of those 3 will be a good choice I believe.

Thanks . I'll appreciate more recommendations if there are any preferably lightweight.

FYI

I'll keep my Hadraw. It is one of a kind.

Someone gave me a Gergely Tamca 5000 too recently it was a giveaway . ( Silver tag)

Butterfly glayzer.
Very linear rubber. Grip is excellent and its quite good at playing short. It's light. Similar weight to rozena.
Look up some reviews it might fit you
I got told about this rubber by others only thing I worry is the weight. Butterfly rubbers are heavy and expensive.

I want a rubber a tad bit slower than Rozena not faster

I have been committed with Rakza 7 for like 2-3 years now.

It's the new era Mark V..

Glayzer is slightly slower with a bit more grip and spin than Rozena

I like Glayzer a lot. I'm struggling to express why I don't think it's a good fit. I don't think calling Glayzer "slower than Rozena" is perfectly accurate; it has a higher overall speed, but is less bouncy in the short game by virtue of having a harder sponge. But if you're still working on using your body for power and are more comfortable engaging a ~45° rubber, Glayzer is not going to be good for you (and G-1 even less so because you really have to power through that topsheet).

Vega Korea, on the other hand, seems about right to me. It's right at 45°, tensor but really not bouncy, great grip and controlled short game. I like it on BH but I think it would make a good, controlled FH rubber, until your power input becomes greater than it can output.

Yasaka Rigan Spin. You're welcome.

Slightly slower than Rakza 7, but not by much.... Put some more power behind it and it does just fine. It's got softer sponge so it's really light, and the spin levels are just nuts... I mean genuine G1 / Dignics level spin! It's one of the most underrated rubbers you're ever going to see, and best of all it's hugely affordable. It's an absolute gem of a rubber frankly. Works on FH and BH. I strap mine to a fast all wood blade I make with lots of blade effect, and it's a beast.

Failing that, try a Rakza 7 soft. Faster spinnier and lighter than a Rakza 7. Also huge fun on FH with a high blade effect set-up.
