I have been using G1 on both sides of a DHS Hurricane 301. I decided to try short pips on the backhand and got Moristo sp in Max sponge as I like hitting like Mima Ito (but half the power and skill!) . However I realised my backhand banana and strawberry were my secret weapons and these were reduced with short pips.
I then tried the Moristo SP on forehand which I quite liked. However I find forehand shots quite challenging and I wonder if this rubber is designed for B/H. Can you recommend a rubber for F/H and the best thickness to make safe attacks (I rarely defend). Thanks.

I'm contemplating a short pip forehand too and these threads seem to have the same answers.
So you can add Spinlord Waran, Friendship 802 SP and Friendship 802-40 (Mystery III) and Yinhe Saturn Pro.
The Friendship ones seems to be the default recommendation.
ttdd.de have some rather detailed descriptions of different rubbers you can use google translate if you don't read german.

For context, I am 50+ beginner since 20 months, switch to short pips on forehand and backhand two months ago. So take my observations for what they are.

If you just flat hit, alignment does not matter that much, but when you start to manipulate the ball, it makes a world of difference. You will develop your technique to stand and fall with one type, vertical or horizontal, backhand or forehand. Those who claim that one type or the other is better must speak for themselves. The important thing is not the alignment though - it is the direction of your blade when you hit or block.

The other thing is the blade. Most blades on the market are made for top spin loopers. Some are made for defenders. Most short pippers are fine with it, since the pips side usually supports the other side. But for a true short pips centered game we need better blades. And we need a whole range of them, depending on what our style of play is or where we are on the skills matrix.

So to put a sp used by pro’s on a carbon blade made for loopers, well, if that is not challenging for a beginner in short pips I don’t know what would be.

More grip, more safety. Need good footwork and hit under the ball.

If you think Moristo is too bouncy and need more control, then I would not recommend VO 102 or Rakza PO. Those are more difficult to control.

I'm using VO103 1.8 on the backhand and it feels like it should be a FH rubber.
The sponge has a harder and has less catapult than most of the German made short pimples, and very good control on pushes and short game.
It also can produce some sink effect when you block and flat hit the ball. So it supports an active and passive game, which is good. Some rubbers like Moristo and Rakza PO are not very good at blocking powerful balls because of their soft or bouncy sponges.

I believe some pro players like Nina Guo Zheng and Xiaona Shan are using it on the FH. Maybe have a look at their style.
