For 12 rubbers (Kokutaku 868) it cost me 35$ USD delivered, and maybe 10$ more for hardware. Obviously i don't leave them outside, so i think durability will be good. A few years maybe. And i keep my old rubbers, i will add patch if needed. :)
I build a return board to practice with my outdoor table. I bought cheap rubbers on Aliexpress, and i already had the wood.
It's fun and good practice. It really improved my BH topspin.

I'm using Cornilleau Target Pro XD. Four months old. They show some signs of usage but they still perform very well. Hit to the table dosen't break the topsheet edge. I'm satisfied.
You can make sure that the way you grip the racket is ok and don't change when you transition from BH to FH. Especially the index finger moving up during the forehand stroke. This cause the bat angle to change and it's hard to have a good FH topspin.

Just in the name of science i would do it. Open it, test it. Then put it in a ziploc bag and reuse it in a month.
I don't think you will see any differences, and the ziploc will protect it. If it's factory boosted it will slightly shrink so you will know.
