  1. Reverse engineering chinese dominance

Fun fact that Oláh Benedek (finnish national champion) when he was a kid every monday travelled 280km and every wednesday 344 km to find suitable training partners and coaches. Respect to his parents.
  2. I am 15 years old, what is the chance of becoming a professional?

That's interesting. Seems in Korea the divisions represent smaller gaps in skill. Here between Div1 and Div4 7 points is a realistic handicap, I think. That would also explain why it's more important to go up in divisions. Many players (and teams) stated that other than going up or down the...

Restrictions will be eased here as well. I am not going to play, as I find this too soon and I have people around me for whom the virus would be dangerous (asthma and other circumstances)

My friend used the MX-P with Falco booster. It became much more stable. Not more linear though...
  5. I am 15 years old, what is the chance of becoming a professional?

I guess in every league you can find those people, who just want to beat the obviously lower level players, as they only enjoy winning. But most of the players and teams here do their best to win their division, because they want to enjoy playing against stronger players for a whole year and...

Leagues differ a lot. Here Country division is one level below National Div 4.

I miss the ELO based rating in Hungary. It would be so much easier to estimate someone's playing level. When I talked about this with the federation's development manager, he told, that the current ranking works for a long time now and a revision would be more of a hassle than good.

"Schlager began playing table tennis when he was six years old, learning from his father, Rudolph Schlager and brother, Harald Schlager who were also top Austrian players, making them ideal training partners" Quoted from the wikipedia.

I asked about Keenan, because I didn't know where he is now, but remembered that he decided to go pro late.
  10. I am 15 years old, what is the chance of becoming a professional?

That's true, but professional means the main mean of income. You don't have to play world tours. And I am not sure how stronger Brazilian table tennis is (other than Hugo and Tsuboi and Ishy). What about Keenan Southall? He started late, or not? How does he play now? And I believe many people...
  11. I am 15 years old, what is the chance of becoming a professional?

My clubmate started when he was 11 years old. Now he is 18, plays second league (he is over 75%) and just participated in his first world tour. Also know someone who played on 4th league level and a few years ago, when he was close to 60 years old his game skyrocketed and now plays 2nd league...
  12. I am 15 years old, what is the chance of becoming a professional?

It is possible, it just depends on you. I would say train like 4*5 hours a week plus 3 hours one-on -one with a coach. This is 23 hours, IMO it's enough if you are talented. If not, aim at 30-35 hours per week. The real challenge are the money and the schooling. You're 15 and being a full-time...
  13. Common Blades All-Wood Blades in China

I only played it with eurojap rubbers and never played the vanilla Clipper. It's a pretty good blade, and you can play a looping game with it, but I think it's better for a more aggressive style. (If looping blade means a blade suited for a slow, spinny style). With T64 and Blufire M1 it had...

Old school attack against classic defence :p The best is always to adapt to the opponent, but I believe many of us either isn't consistent enough or isn't agile enough to copy the current top players and just wade through a chopper's defense. Here is another video from The Chopper, which...

I am curious about the wood used in the handle. My old JOOLA EXTREME (discontinued and I only found 1 guy who had this model) has the same-looking handle
  16. Camera for recording matches?

Thanks for the responses! Probably I will stick for my phone now and ask someone else to record in better quality when they can. Maybe I will bring a recharger with me. I will post my matches here on the daily chitchat, but probably I won't have time for editing.

I was watching some matches, and I think this is a good example what I believe how should we play against defense. Mixing up things and keep the chopper moving, forward and backward, changing spin and speed constantly.
  18. Spin is better than Speed - I am a believer now.

In my club, the young players learn to play safely and don't try to kill everything. It works, but has an undesired side effect, I think. They fear to play with lots of spin, as it's also "not safe playing". I feel that the most of the hungarian players are lacking in attacking spirit somehow.

The Xiaomi entry level mobile which I have currently isn't the best, but I will try it.
