  1. The All Time Greatest

Since I began playing table tennis in the later part of the eighties in Sweden, it is quite obvious that I rate Waldner as the GOAT. Some of the of the rule changes seems almost targeted at him. I.e. his amazing serves, touch, and ability to spin the ball. To me the game has become abit less...
  2. Two Blades from OSP: Virtuoso Off- and V'King

Thanks Carl. I'll check out that Martin blade. Since coming back from a long TT break (more than 20 years) I have experienced that I now prefer a more stable/stiffer blade because of the bigger ball. My Intensity NCT blade is ok, but still a bit too flexible and although the speed is ok, I'm not...
  3. Two Blades from OSP: Virtuoso Off- and V'King

Since I have read that you are also a fan of the classic Stiga Clipper, I wonder if you have tried the "OSP Ultimate Offensive" and have any comments on that blade?
  4. Equipment TTD chat

Stiga used to have two straight handles named after two Swedish table tennis players. Stellan Bengtsson(slightly larger girth ;)) and Peter Karlsson. Stellan won the singles world championships in 1971. Peter won the world championships in doubles in 1991 and also won the european championships...
  5. Choosing my next rubber as an all round player and a step up from mark v? Roughly 1.8

Sounds like your type of game would benefit from using long pips on one side and a regular rubber on the other side. You could then fiddle with the bat and chose the side of the bat that suits the stroke you want to play. Chop with pips and loop and serve with the regular rubber. If you want to...
  6. Rubbers advice for Stiga Intensity NCT

I am also having trouble locating any other info than: - You have played table tennis for 6 months with a premade bat - You have an "Off" playstyle, but don't loop with backhand - Want to by a Stiga Intensity NCT mainly since you can find a good deal on that blade - Play mainly fairly close to...
  7. Rubbers advice for Stiga Intensity NCT

Just to clarify, Intensity NCT is not a carbon blade. However, it is still a whole lot faster than a regular allround blade. Buying a blade because you can get it on discount is probably not the best idea.
  8. Rubbers advice for Stiga Intensity NCT

The equipment you list, both rubbers and blade, are generally too advanced for someone who has only played table tennis for 6 months. Something along the line of allround blade and markV rubbers would probably suit you better, or even a pre-made bat.
  9. Dimitrij Ovtcharov using Hurricane rubber at World Cup 2016!

I agree with NextLevel, I think his FH was strong in the game vs Karlsson. I think his problem was that he wasn't as fast and as usual.
  10. Men's World Cup 2016

Seems Gerell is tilting now. No way back in this game ... :(
  11. Men's World Cup 2016

I don't think Gerell has ever played with short pips on BH.
  12. TTX is what the 4th August is all about - the new revolution of table tennis!

Wow, what a load of crap! Almost makes me wanna cry. Why ITTF, why?
  13. My practice of short underspin serves!

I agree with the rest, I doesn't look too shabby, but inconsistent. My advice to you is to try to get the feel of placement and hight first without focusing too much on getting lots of spin on the ball. Once you get a good feel for height and ball placement and good consistency on serves with a...
  14. Stiga Carbonado 45 VS 90

I've seen them in the stores in Sweden.
  15. Croatian player loses his sh#t

I don't really think there is any misunderstanding here. Most people here clearly think that the shots that the "old" man pulls off take far more skill/technique than the looping done by the younger player. Yes, the young guy has a nice modern looping technique, but that doesn't mean it is better.
  16. Croatian player loses his sh#t

It's so sad when people can't acknowledge the skill it takes to execute a different style (anything that doesn't include, attack all balls coming at you with top spin) of play. Just because he doesn't hit the ball with top spin it doesn't mean his technique is inferior. I would say that some of...
  17. Coat the blades were good...

----- Why do you attach a photo of the handle? The protective coat goes on the head of the blade where the rubbers are attached not on the handle ...
  18. Help choosing a new blade+rubber setup

I have a similar journey as yours. I started playing in the late eighties and played until I was approx 18 years old. I fairly recently after a 20 years break started playing again and the biggest change to me is the new ball. I think the new ball actually helps me to still be able to keep up...
  19. Waldner - Appelgren

It was a different game with the smaller ball. In my humble oppinion service return is easier nowadays with the new balls.
