  1. Odd number at the venue/table - what are some exercises?

I’ve been quite unlucky recently where I arrive at the training hall and I’m the odd number. I feel bad as there are a select few members that are really considerate and after 5-10mins feel the need to give up their place. I do the same thing too if I’ve been on the table long enough. Are...
  2. Conspiracy theory being played out vs defensive styles. Follow where the money goes?

Does anyone else get the feeling there is a concerted push (with a helpful hand from the major TT manufacturers) to try to discourage defensive styles? As this subset does not generate as many $$$ overall to ITTF/manufacturers/retailers as equipment catered to the double inverted attacking...
  3. Calling Defensive EJs & Equipment Theorists: What’s the reason HL5 not being widely used for Modern Defenders?

It seems to have a lot of boxes ticked to be a great modern defender blade: 1. Limba outer 2. Slightly bigger headsize (similar to Korbel and Harimoto ALC) 3. Great forehand capability and spinning potential 4. Inner Carbon (hello recently released Koji Matsushita ZC) The only drawback I think...
  4. Spring Sponge vs Spring Sponge X vs ESN Sponge

This is based on subjective feelings so any comments or opinions welcome 😃 In relation to grippy type rubbers with which I have more experience. For me Butterfly’s Spring Sponge has a feeling of vibration/reverberation spreading across the whole bat face from the ball impact point (like...
  5. The rise of pickleball and padel

https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/63502926 It’s a long read but interesting article nonetheless about the rise of pickleball and padel. Here’s hoping ITTF understands *SPIN* being the key differentiator in table tennis and taking care to move our sport forward accordingly - keeping all types of...
  6. World Teams: Team Sticky Inner Limba vs Team ESN Outer Koto

To go along with my post on the emerging counter loop era I also noticed for male double inverted attackers there’s a clear divergence of equipment usage into 2 distinctive lines of thinking: There’s the ESN Jap type + crisp outer koto facing setup - think Hugo, Truls, LJY (even though he was...
  7. World Teams: Team Sticky Inner Limba vs Team Outer Koto

    Duplicate, mods please remove.
  8. The counterloop era?

First of all, I really enjoyed watching the World Teams Championship just completed. Upon replaying, I focussed my attention on the first 5 balls and the technical beauty of the counterloop when executed perfectly: - On serve, the typical setup being FH pendulum half long with slight sidespin...
  9. FH Loop Free Arm Movement - Elbow back or Hand form triangle

I’ve been noticing the free arm movement on forehand loop between the mens and womens game. In the mens game, there seems more of the current top players with the technique of pushing back their free elbow directly behind or near their non playing hip. Especially Hugo. Can also can be seen in...
  10. Crispest Blade you have used

Wanting to delve into the knowledge of forum members here 😀 From what I know, harder outer wood with a supporting layer of composite for stiffness?
  11. FS/FT: Dr Neubauer Hercules Kiso Hinoki - SYD, AU

Dr Neubauer Hercules ST 79g - mint condition. Bought in 2019, used for 1 month and then been placed in storage and rarely used ever since. Only defect on blade face is tiny unnoticeable dent at 2 o’clock - pictures via: https://ooakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=39127 For Kiso Hinoki...
  12. Best method to boost frictionless anti?

As majority of tacky users boost their sponge (quite openly), for anti material users what’s the best method to create a more frictionless topsheet? I have a dying 2 year old Dr N. ABS2 Soft I can experiment with. Also would be interested to know if the same method would apply to treating long...
  13. Least Spin Sensitive Inverted Rubber 45-55 deg

What is the least spin sensitive you have used? I’ve been using Vega Pro + Rozena and these are great. Rozena more catapult for the backhand and Vega Pro to be able to generate better spin and power on forehand. Are there any other considerations in 45-55 deg range?
