  3. considering yinhe v-14 pro

Agree with everything Michael said except #4. The XVT Dragon ALC does not have koto as both the outer and medial layers. Koto on the outer layer but not medial. I'm literally looking at my Dragon ALC as I'm writing this and it's clear they are different types of wood.
  4. considering yinhe v-14 pro

I also recently picked up an XVT Dragon ALC. It's similar to my V14 Pro but just a tad slower. Not as cheap as the CC ($12 on Ali), but at $26 is still a cheaper option than the V14 Pro, if that matters to you at all.
  5. considering yinhe v-14 pro

I used to own, until recently, a Stiga Allround Classic and still own a Yinhe V14 Pro. The difference in speed between those two might be too much of a jump, therefore, I'll recommend the Sanwei CC. It's an inner carbon blade that's in between the other two in speed (closer to the V14 Pro than...
  6. Blade sealing/varnishing question

I've purchased about 8 or 9 different blades in the last 6 months or so (various brand and top ply materials) and have sealed every one of them with Minwax polyurethane. Almost every single one of them have had their rubbers removed and different ones applied on several occasions as I like to...
  7. Blade sealing/varnishing question

I know you're a blade manufacturer, so I'm not going to disagree with you, but I honestly don't see the point in using a water based sealer that literally affects the structural integrity of the blade when there are other sealers that don't. I'd hate to have to remove any amount of wood from my...
  8. Blade sealing/varnishing question

You're a brave, brave man to attempt to use the same sealer with that blade. From the looks of the first result, it doesn't appear the sealer and blade are a good combination. I've used the Minwax polyurethane on blades with koto, limba, and white ash outer plies. None of them absorbed the...
  9. Blade sealing/varnishing question

I've used Minwax fast drying polyurethane to seal all of my blades and have NEVER had any of them look like that after sealing them! Is it a water based sealer? If so, did you soak the blade in the sealer??? Wow 😲
  10. Yinhe Mercury 2 vs 9000E

Has anyone used both of these rubbers before? If so, can you tell me what the difference(s) is/are? Of the two, I've only used Mercury 2. TIA
  11. Budget Setup for returning newbie : Sanwei CC or Power G-7 or V14pro

Good choice going with the CC. To me, it has the slightly dampened feel of inner carbon but the power level and control of a 7 ply all wood blade. Actually, my Sanwei V5 Pro (7 ply all wood) is faster than any of the CCs I've purchased. All that being said, the good news is if you end up...
  12. Is BEO Store on AliExpress legit?

Same opinion here. I've ordered from them several times recently and have never had an issue.
  13. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

The other 3 CCs belong to my wife and kids and all wear Sanwei T88 Ultra Spin rubbers. My V14 Pro has Mercury 2, so that's what I put on my CC to compare the two blades. That way I wouldn't be comparing apples to oranges since the only difference would be the blades themselves. The CCs do play...
  14. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

Interesting! It's so funny how blades of the same model can play differently because my Sanwei CC is WAY slower than my V14 Pro. I usually use unboosted Mercury 2 on both sides, but I couldn't with my CC. I had to rip them off, put two layers of baby oil on them until they domed, then glue...
  15. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

I had the same feeling, so I took my V14 Pro out this morning 😂 Still a tad too fast for me. I much prefer my Pro 13S with the Sanwei V5 Pro coming in a close second. All are wearing Mercury 2 rubbers BTW.
  16. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

As I said in an earlier post, I'm looking for a blade similar to my V14 Pro but slightly slower which is what the Viscaria and Pro 01 are, but I never said I wanted a Viscaria specifically. I can EASILY afford to buy a Viscaria, but with all the really good Chinese blades out there, I don't see...
  17. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

Just found this close-up pic of the V14 Pro which has limba as the third layer. Going by the previous pic I posted, it looks to be the same type of wood the XVT Dragon uses as it's third layer.
  18. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

I don't have huge hands by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't stand small grips. Guess that takes DHS off the table for me!
  19. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

Yeah, the koto-alc-koto is a little different, however, when looking closely at the pictures, the third layer appears to be a different wood than the outer layer. Not sure what it could be, but it looks to be a different color and a lot more porous.
  20. Anyone play with the XVT ALC Dragon

I'm not necessarily looking for a Viscaria clone. Just something similar to, but sightly slower than, the V14 Pro. I've read both the Viscaria and Pro-01 are just that because they both have a slightly thicker outer koto plies compared to the V14 Pro which has a really thin koto outer ply...
