We're probably so far off on our short game assessment I don't know what else to say... WCQ, Felix, Sora, LYJ, Dang, Tomokazu, Truls, and Jha all come to mind as having far superior short games...I am probably missing a few...

That's one of those things that might be true in theory but very far from the truth in real life unless you are 2800 or maybe even better. Most amateurs (I am not sure your level) using DHS 41 or harder will in fact lose shot quality on any shot where they aren't able to line up perfect timing...

I did not see him playing particularly much to KJs backhand but maybe you saw something I didn't. But in cases that he did, it likely has to do with the playing position and angles he wants to not allow Kanak to play easily, like getting forced to his own wide forehand as he prefers to play out...
