  1. A possible solution to the problems for the rules

We all know that serving has become a lot less of an advantage now, simply due to the rule changes that have been applied and the larger ball. Umpires struggle to call fault serves due to the rules being somewhat unclear. Serve and receive has also lost power and has less importance. I wanted to...
  2. Rubber for powerful forehand ?

For what you are describing, I would recommend looking into the Hexer and Rasant series rubbers from Andro or the Bluefire, Coppa and Acuda series rubbers from Donic.
  3. Return mentality

Let's analyse this situation for your conscious mind and unconscious mind. Here's the thing. Most actions in our sport are based off of muscle memory and honed visionary skills. We recognize patterns subconsciously, and our brain takes out a lot of the unnecessary information. This sport is far...
  4. A fun hypothetical situation to comment on...

I did mean a gold medal in either the Olympics or the World Championships, which he hasn't done. Not to discredit him at all, I think he is the epitome of a great chopper and has set the bar for what it takes to be a chopper and to compete at high level. I think he's one of the best choppers we...
  5. A fun hypothetical situation to comment on...

I don't think it's necessarily one thing or the other. Surely China's dominance can be attributed to their substantially high level of coaching, understanding and history within the sport, coupled with a myriad of talented players. This means that China will generally produce players that...
  6. Will Liu Guoliang retire?

I believe the Men's head coach will be either Ma Lin, Wang Hao or Wang Liqin. Wang Liqin seems to be the best candidate in my opinion, seeing as the majority of players are now using the shakehand grip. Keep in mind that Wang Liqin was also a 3 time world champion, nearly 4, and always performed...
  7. Fundamentals of shakehand vs penhold grip

In my mind, and in a very brief senes, penhold endorses creativity. Players like Ma Lin can do so many things using the penhold grip that would be very difficult - or other times impossible with the shakehand grip. The penhold grip also offers more use of the wrist, meaning that for the short...
  8. Tenergy 05

4 out of 5 rating for Tenergy 05 Tenergy 05 is a flagship rubber, and has been leading the market for years now. Tenergy 05 is regarded as the most spinny in the Tenergy line, as well as the most popular. To start off, I believe it is not as fast as people make it out to be. Sure, it is fast -...
  9. Tenergy 05

Review by 'pingpongdingdong' on item 'Tenergy 05'

Tenergy 05 is a flagship rubber, and has been leading the market for years now. Tenergy 05 is regarded as the most spinny in the Tenergy line, as well as the most popular. To start off, I believe it is not as fast as people make it out to be. Sure, it is fast - but there are faster rubbers. The...
  10. Zhang Jike Will Retire After Rio Olympics 2016!

I think it is about time for Zhang Jike to leave. His injuries are too much for him to handle, and his performance has been dropping. He should be satisfied with a silver medal in his last olympic games, getting amazingly close to a double grand slam. He can retire with Liu Guoliang. They can...
  11. At the moment, who do you consider greater: Ma Long or Zhang Jike?

Zhang Jike was very close to a second grand slam, which no one has ever done before in the history of the sport. He was also back to back world champion, and a lot of times, the big events are what people focus on. People don't put value and prestige into who won a world tour event, but who won...
  12. Cleaning rubbers !

I found that wiping over the bat with a wet hand or sponge only takes a few seconds and keeps my tacky rubber tacky, as redundant as that sounds. Only takes a few seconds and my rubber is clean and grippy. Not to mention it's far cheaper and easier than rubber cleaner.
  13. LEAKED: Chinese Team Whatsapp Group React to Ma Longs Olympic Gold!

Hilarious. The Hao Shuai bit killed me, along with all of Fan Zhendong's rejection. Great stuff!
  14. Medium Pips... for?

I've played medium pimples only a handful of times; and there's not much information online. They play halfway between short and long pimples, so they're supposedly far harder to use. However, they can do quite a bit once people get the hang of it. They can reverse spin a little bit but also...
  15. Dealing with short, fairly high balls that appear half long

A very quick, brief and simple tip (but it's almost always forgotten) is to push long. Long pushes will generally warrant long push returns. Obviously this doesn't work on balls that you're not pushing or have no control of, but if it's the start of the rally and you're touching the ball short...
  16. Ask Panagiotis Gionis a question on the TTD podcast!

A few questions, feel free to pick and choose (if any at all). How has it been playing as a chopper in Europe, a place so devoid of choppers? What made you want to become a chopper? Has the plastic ball affected you in a good or bad way? If so, how? Do you think the number of choppers has...
  17. Par gerell serve

To be fair, I can't exactly comment on it properly (which I should have said). I haven't really used the punch serve extensively. I'll give it some testing when I'm having a hit next and come back and tell you my thoughts. I honestly just remembered it being not as spinny as the pendulum serve...
  18. How often do you change/replace your rubber?

It completely depends on the player, the rubber and their activity. There really is no set time, it is really only when you feel it should be changed (which is up to your standards). A general guideline is going to be about 6 months for an active player (3+ times a week), and about once a year...
  19. Par gerell serve

Well he uses the tomahawk/reverse/punch/kick/hook/*insert more names* serve. Wang Hao also used this serve with his penhold grip. Par Gerell's serve is effective for a couple of reasons. Number 1: he's a left hander and number 2: it's an unusual/uncommon serve. But the main reason is because it...
  20. My trick serve to fool confuse opponent with Backspin and Topspin

Yeah, exactly. There's no point in having more backspin if they're going to mistake it for topspin and vice versa.
