  1. Commentary vs No Commentary

I appreciate knowledgeable commentary that not only discusses play but provides some color about the players.
  2. Hinoki deeper study

Xiom is bragging on their website that their new Feel Z blades are made from 250 year old Jiri Hinoki trees. I guess their marketing department felt that was the only way to compete with Butterfly.
  3. Hinoki deeper study

I guess that means we should all join in the fun of cutting up 200 year old trees.
  4. Equipment for close to the table play?

    Ok. Thanks. Appreciate your suggestions.
  5. Equipment for close to the table play?

Thanks much! I understand H3 but what is it about the Xiom that you believe makes it particularly appropriate as opposed to other ESN rubbers? Thanks.
  6. Equipment for close to the table play?

@Der Echte Thanks much for sharing this great information and your POV. Many thanks to all that have replied. Very informative.
  7. Equipment for close to the table play?

Thanks. Mark V for coming control and punch shots? Wondering if Rozena might work for this kind of play?
  8. Equipment for close to the table play?

Thanks for the info. Seems like a soft wood blade with tacky FH is the common denominator so far.
  9. Hinoki deeper study

I don't know if too many clubs where going around bragging that a 200 year old tree was cut up for a blade is going to get a round of applause. Apparently some cultures think it is a super idea otherwise the manufacturers wouldn't be bragging about it. But I appreciate the information. I'll know...
  10. Hinoki deeper study

Memo to TT marketing departments: not a good idea advertising that you are destroying 200 year old trees for sport and as an advertising gimmick. Not everyone believes it is a great idea.
  11. Equipment for close to the table play?

Thanks Lightzy! So you like keeping it tacky and on the FH and soft and light on the BH. Out of curiosity, did you ever experiment with Tenergy, e.g. 05 on the FH and some FX on the BH? Thanks again.
  12. Equipment for close to the table play?

Hi, I was observing a recent game by Klampar which was close to the table play with BH flicks and FH topspin. I was told that he is using T05 on both wings on a Stiga wood I was wondering for an average club player, what general classes of rubber and wood are appropriate for close to the...
  13. Butterfly Gionis All+ for offensive intermediate player?

Just wanted to have you aware that there are two versions of the Korbel, a European and a Japanese. Megaspin sells both. They are somewhat different and on the forums I would say that Korbel users seem to prefer the construction of the Japanese version which can be identified by a serial number...
  14. Katsura core properties

Apparently much of the characteristics depends upon how much time the lumber is permitted to dry. I've read it can be considered soft or hard. The wood is grown in Japan, where it is difficult to regenerate, and China, where it could be anything. I use to buy herbs from China until lab results...
  15. Blade recommendation

It's tough to measure elasticity without an instrument. How rebound speed translates into actual ball speed depends upon many, many factors. The measurements can only be used so far. I actually am able to hit a ball faster, for various reasons, with an all wood than a composite, but a composite...
  16. Is posible to get a original W968 and DHS rubber?

The only way to verify would be via a manufacture's customer service desk. When I was buying Onkyo speakers via Amazon, I verified through Onkyo they were fakes. After this I only purchased through a local Best Buy retail store that has verified distribution channels. They were of course real...
  17. Blade recommendation

Speed is not being measured, especially as felt by a player, since there are so many variables. What TTgearlab is trying to measure, for better or worse, is the elasticity of the blade, providing some indication of dwell time. How does that translates into speed? I guess it all depends.
  18. Is posible to get a original W968 and DHS rubber?

Does DHS allow customers to verify legitimate serial numbers? That is what I have to do when I suspect illegal copies of an appliance, for example. If such a service exists, then it is possible to verify prior to be purchase. In fact, the retailer should provide a guarantee of authenticity. It's...
  19. Is posible to get a original W968 and DHS rubber?

How would you know? If you want to believe it is, it will be. Zero way of knowing since it is untraceable. It's not like a car, or an alliance serial number, or a piece of art with verifiable pedigree.
  20. Blade recommendation

This is an interesting graph from TTgearlab.com that plots the distribution of vibration across the palm and fingers. So depending how you hold the racket (I hold it mostly at the finger tips), one might sense more or less vibration for any given blade, assuming that there is some degree of...
