  1. Rigan

5 out of 5 rating for Rigan I like the quality of the rubber and felt it was very controllable. It is listed by Yasaka as having built in effect (their way of saying tensioned or tensor rubber), and I think it is a lot like a "tensioned Mark V" and for that reason a good step up from Mark V for...

Review by 'sderyke2002' on item 'Rigan'

I like the quality of the rubber and felt it was very controllable. It is listed by Yasaka as having built in effect (their way of saying tensioned or tensor rubber), and I think it is a lot like a "tensioned Mark V" and for that reason a good step up from Mark V for intermediate players. But so...

  4. Yasaka Rigan

I finally bought some and so will give a brief review here. I like the quality of the rubber and felt it was very controllable. It is listed by Yasaka as having built in effect (their way of saying tensioned or tensor rubber), and I think it is a lot like a tensioned Mark V and for that reason...

  6. "The Tables" - inspirational short film on table tennis in Bryant Park NY.

Amazing! Our city just put a table in its park. I gotta get down there and play sometime soon.
  7. Struggling with Hurricane 3 and topspin

I used to play a slow loop, very much brush contact and so when I recently got back into Table Tennis and knocked off the rust playing with Mark V I decided to try H3-50 and just didn't care for it. I even tried playing with Yasaka Rising and Shining Dragon as a transition (which you might want...
  8. ZJK: Screw You, ITTF!

There should be a proscribed manner in which to do a draw and thus no reason to ever change it. I would immediately think the fix was in if my opponent was changed on me. It is not normal in any other legitimate tournament style sport in the world.
  9. Looping bat

Your sig says you are using Fastarc. I use Rakza x and RakzaX soft. Not as sensitive to spin as 7 in my mind and I feel a little bit better to control when looping. But it is pretty subjective.
  10. Looping bat

I agree in spirit with what Xylit says, but I also know even high level players are sometimes EJ's and most all of us like to talk about the sport and equipment as a form of entertainment. A lot like those who hang around fly fishing shops - not to tie flies but to bullsh*t the time away. So...
  11. Terrible tournament score presentation on ITTF website

The InfoSec group I belong to held our monthly meeting at a bar locally and when looking at their website for a menu (service was slow) one of our members noticed we were all logged in as Admin to their website. On top of that they were using a way out of date version of WordPress and PHP. We...
  12. What short pimple rubbers are the pros using?

Mattias Karlsson uses Yasaka Rakza PO. He used to use Xtend PO also from Yasaka. But then he is on team Yasaka, so you can only take so much away from what rubbers are the pros using.
  13. How can I convince my friends that TT is a sport?

First make up your mind if you are going to use averages or best speeds since you mixed the two it confuses your point. The average professional tennis serve is around 110 mph not 150 mph (those are out of the ordinary), likewise fastballs are down around 90 mph with 100+ being extremely rare...
  14. How can I convince my friends that TT is a sport?

Point out that the slams of world class players are in excess of 90 miles an hour, and that even those are returned from a mere 15 feet away. Compare that to the leisurely pace of a pitch in baseball, or cricket, or tennis serve, or hockey slapshot.
  15. Different countries ranking systems

I agree that the attempt to compare ratings across countries is almost futile. The rating systems in Table Tennis have made no attempt at uniformity. The ITTF has even gone to a ranking system instead of rating - complete nonsense. In chess there is a better attempt (almost all Federations...
  16. lighter offensive setup

I have a Yasaka Battle Balsa, which is plenty fast with Rakza X on it but so darn light I feel like I am going to throw my arm out when I go to loop. Plus I beat the ball there and miss a lot more with it. Therefore, I am going to "punish" the blade by taking away the Rakza rubber and...
  17. Carbon used by Yasaka in its blades

Does anyone know what carbon Yasaka uses in its carbon reinforced blades. Is it ALC or ZLC or something completely different. I have found that the Alnade (now discontinued) used ALC but the others like the Max Carbon 3D and Ma Lin Carbon I cannot find a reliable source to describe their...
  18. Yasaka Mark V for Donic Persson Exclusive OFF

I play a lot with Mk V on at least one side of my many blades (usually the backhand for the added control). Yes it is slower than one of the Rakza's I usually have on the other side but that does not represent much of a problem if your loop is spinney enough. I find it pushes more predictably...
  19. July World Rankings 2018

Does anyone know of a site on the Internet that has an historical list of the number 1 players in the world as each one succeeded the other in turn? Thanks in advance to who ever can point me the right direction.
