  1. Training top spin by the return board

We have customers, club owners, etc. that contact us over long periods of time asking to replace rubber, making videos, sending us suggestions, etc. ..enough to let us know that many of them are using it for longer periods of time. At a local college, they use them a lot for warm ups before...
  2. Training top spin by the return board

Hi Thomas, We settled on a nice 1/2 inch thick european baltic birch that has at least 10 plys and polyurethane coating. In the states we source it through a panel processing firm that uses them for high end cabinets. We tried a lot of different materials and found this to be the best in...
  3. Using Wood Filler to fill the dents on the blade

You can use just plain epoxy (I like Devcon) or you can mix in some wood dust. I just sand a similar type or color wood for a little dust and add right after i've mixed the epoxy together. Note that it will still come out a little darker than the color of the wood dust you use.
  4. JOOLA Releases Patent-Pending Paddle Wipes

I think it is a clever idea and big on the convenience factor for the casual player. I was asking folks at the local club what they mostly use recently and it was pretty diverse across all the usual suspects (none, breath/hand, clothes, water, cleaner/sponge). Lot of people that don't like the...
  5. Training top spin by the return board

Recently filmed a few of our local college students here in Austin Texas on a couple of our wallyrebounder board configurations. Sharing a small clip of the action. Big thanks to Joy, Chhun, and Brian as well as the awesome folks at Austin Table Tennis Club
  6. Training top spin by the return board

Cool Deal - If you can find HDF, I think you'll be much happier. HDF is normally about 25% more dense than MDF and a whole lot less sensitive to moisture, etc (say if the table is in your garage). High density plywood can work ok, but higher end plys like baltic birch are very nice and also...
  7. I qualified for College Nationals, help

Just adding a short note of congrats and encouragement - I'll be a spectator at the event and looking forward to seeing you play. Hope the whole experience is a great one for you!

All the various tools (robots, rebound boards, etc) can sometimes frustrate beginners. Getting a little bit of coaching and/or joining a club with some experienced players, etc. will help you get off to a good start and build some decent fundamentals. Once you are on your way, these other...
  9. Training top spin by the return board

Wally has been around several years but most people tend to find us from our videos, direct web searches or through friends. To your questions - Rebound boards act pretty much like a blocking partner so you are correct that what comes back is not typically a hard and spinny topspin. Depending...

@Der_Echte I think Jeff is Secretary at Austin Table Tennis. Not sure about Louis, but I'll keep my eyes open and say hi if i see them!
  11. Old School Return Board Vid

Agreed! We regularly ship to Europe and generally discount the shipping, but you are right - It's fairly high given the size and weight of these devices. We've explored doing fulfillment in the EU, but nothing definitive yet. Thanks a bunch for the feedback!
  12. Old School Return Board Vid

We currently ship everything from the USA today.
  13. Beginner forehand topspin

Some good advice posted above. Others mentioned ping skills, but here is one of their topspin training videos that is pretty good for beginners and more focused on the basic stroke vs. the counter - it reviews the basic foot position, bat position, and shows fairly compact stroke to start...
  14. Old School Return Board Vid

Hey Der_Echte, thanks for finding our old Wally Rebounder Video! That was a lot of fun - we don't make that model anymore but it was kind of the original one that got this going so kind of nostalgic to see it pop up again. I guess you could say we are on now our 3rd generation Wally now and...
  15. An insane save!

I love how the guys at the table next to them just stop what they are doing to see how it plays out. :)
  16. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Today for me was all service practice in prep for a doubles tournament in San Antonio Texas Saturday. It's funny how service training is so useful, but how easy it is for me to think of other things to do instead....
  17. How do i improve with a sh*t coach

Agree with most of the other posts above and suggest you re-frame the way you look at it. You are getting at least some exposure to a strong coach, and have access to other players and facilities. Most importantly, have you discussed your training goals with the coach you don't like...
  18. Training top spin by the return board

Hi Everyone - This is Richard. My partner Matt and I make the Wally Rebounder and saw it mentioned in the thread. Jake, Awesome videos showing your skills with the board you are using! Obviously, I'm a bit biased on this one, but return boards are a great way to develop some skill and...
