I also have been going back and forth from Composite blades to all wood blades...I used to prefer 5 play blades which most are too slow for todays game, but there are about 3 of them i could still use and be fine with, otherwise i prefer now 7ply wood especially when using tuned sticky rubber on...

yes shape of the pips make a difference into the flexibility and spring affect too... also the arranging of the pips in vertical or horizontal direction makes a difference as well in inverted not just in pips out...

when you start with a new sheet make sure you clean it well after you play and immediately place a plastic cover over the H3...it will trap the moisture and keep the stickiness longer...if you trap too much moister you will notice the rubber be sticky but will get slower so don't use too much...
