  1. Tibhar Hybrid MK & Hybrid MK Pro Review: Safety vs Power, Average vs Better Durability

yeah I was going to say - I've had several sheets of each and they suffer the same exact durability in my experience. But it might be that when the regular MK dies there's less power in the rubber still - it's kind of a pillowish feeling sponge/rubber overall, so the difference with 'feeling' is...
  2. Tibhar Infinity MX-P and MX-S will be released on May 11!

As a big fan of the original MX-S, i'm hugely curious about it. 70 bucks is a bit steep but if it's 20 dollars more durable than the original then it's probably worth it. Is it still a pretty rigid topsheet? Is it trying to be like the modern hybrids or still just purely grippy? Give me the...
  3. Do you have to be fit to be a pro table tennis player?

There's a point where it becomes very very difficult I think and then a point where it's almost impossible. How high up is the debate, but I don't think you can be a top top pro while being too overweight with today's fast game. I base my observations on watching a lot of the German league...
  4. Discussion: Is it worth trying to slow the game down again?

I think it just went too far in the wrong direction. When I watch matches pre plastic, the sport is just so much more enjoyable as a spectator. Rallies were a little more careful, the sport played a little slower at the pro level, yet so much more dynamic. I think bringing the spin back will...
  5. In-depth look at Tibhar equipment. Any feedback you'd like to share?

In general Hybrids just don't last a long time. I don't think they make a lot of sense to play with unless you get them for free/cheap, or if you just don't play that often. With that said - relative to the ones out there I think MK/MK Pro do last a little longer than average. They're a lot...
  6. In-depth look at Tibhar equipment. Any feedback you'd like to share?

I'm also a big MX-S lover, but since the prices increased so much I haven't been using it. I used it both sides for a long time and then just kept it on my backhand, but I think this rubber is incredibly slept on.
  7. To step back or not to step back…..???

I always coach taking this space in between as a standard and make changes from there based on what you're against. My rationale is that it is ALWAYS easier to have a little extra space/time and step into the table than it is to be too close to the ball and have to find extra space in a split...
  8. An embarrassing article in our table tennis rules (ITTF)

My argument/stance is the same now as it was in 2009/2010. They've written a rule with no way to enforce it consistently. It's embarrassing to have made absolutely no progress in over 15 years since the glue ban and sudden booster enforcement. A rule you cannot enforce imo should simply be...
  9. about knee surgeries

Yeah and it's 'new' enough in practice still that insurance often doesn't cover it. I had to pay out of pocket for it, though it isn't crazy expensive. I tried my best to not think of it as a miracle fix, just as something that allows me to take a step. I just couldn't believe how much this...
  10. about knee surgeries

Depending on what the problem ends up being, I'd shout out exploring the option of PRP Therapy as a potential alternative. It's used to treat osteoarthritis but also connective tissue injuries, and is less invasive. I had never heard of it, but an older Japanese woman I was coaching put me onto...
  11. Calderano Signs with Joola (#139)

That's only because it would take any new brand at least 9-12 business months to supply him with enough shirts to cover his single tournament needs.
  12. Blade upgrade from Korbel (Japan)

Honestly this is another reason it's a good pick though - the Korbel and Harimoto ALC have the exact same head shape/size.
  13. TTD Member @Dingyibvs is LEGIT good at TT

I had planned on being there this year but I can't say for sure since I am waiting on my RealID to get in.
  14. Damien Éloi: Are the top players’ rubbers different?

Correct - this was 10 years ago so dignics was not a thing and the H3/Tenergy combo was still the most common
  15. Damien Éloi: Are the top players’ rubbers different?

Everyone has their anecdotes. I still remember a friend of mine interviewed Zhou Qihao and Yu Ziyang for some TT publication in China and got to spend some time with them. ZQH gave him one of the rackets from his bag to keep and it was glued up with H3 and T05 at the time (this was prob 10 years...
  16. New Andro NUZN 48 and 45

I also took advantage of the TT11 sale and bought a couple sheets of NUZN48. Played with it today side by side with an older version of the same blade that had NUZN50 both sides. Noticed before playing that just looking at the rubbers side on comparing the Red 50 with the red 48, the topsheet...
  17. New Andro NUZN 48 and 45

Seriously if I could get unlimited sheets I would use C48 both sides. I loved that rubber so much. But it might be the fastest dying rubber I've ever used. I tried NUZN 50 hoping it would be similar to how C48 operated and i just didn't like it nearly as much.
  18. How hard is Rakza Z Extra Hard?

I know it's at thing with Tibhar too. The variance isn't quite as big as the yasaka one but I think it's still +/- 2 dg. I only remember it being a thing once hybrids started to become prevalent.
  19. Any European rubbers that can replace Hurricane?

I'm curious what your thoughts are on it or how it's received by that player. After reading a lot of mixed opinions on this forum for v15 sticky but then seeing a lot of good impressions from some chinese players I gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised and I really enjoy it. When I play a...
  20. 38mm speed glue era table tennis

Yeah I fully agree about the material making a difference. But 38mm to 40mm there was a direct substantial loss in spin with the same celluloid material. And even though I know the material matters a lot, I think there would still have to be a difference with a 38mm plastic ball compared to a...
