Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some advice on choosing temporary rubbers.
For over a year, I've been using a Tibhar Samsonov Pure Wood blade with Tibhar Evolution MX-S on both sides. This was my first custom setup after playing with a pre-made bat (Atemi 5000).
I feel that my MX-S rubbers are pretty much dead now (over a year old), and I'm looking for a budget-friendly replacement to use for the next few months. I am planning on changing the blade later (probably to a Yinhe Pro-01) and then maybe buying new Evolution rubbers, so what I want is just a good, inexpensive substitute to use on my Samsonov Pure Wood for this transitional period.
A bit about my level and style: I'm an intermediate/advanced amateur player. I play at a local club and can compete well against other strong club players, but I usually lose to official lower-league players (like Polish 4th division).
My game is built around a strong serve and powerful flat hits/drives on any high or easy ball. I really like the hard, direct feel of the MX-S for this part of my game.
However, my biggest weakness is consistently looping against heavy backspin. I've only just started doing structured drills/element training for the first time in my life, so this is something I really need to work on.
The Question: What budget-friendly, grippy (not tacky) rubber would you recommend as a substitute for MX-S? I'm looking for something with a hard sponge that would merge well with the flexible Samsonov Pure Wood blade. I've been looking at brands like Yinhe, Palio, Friendship 729, etc.
