Hello everyone.
I'm new here. I hope you can give me a hand with this.
After some years without playing, I want to start again. I used to own a Joola K5 blade with Sriver rubbers but unfortunately the blade cracked. My idea now is keeping the rubbers which are in excellent condition and change the blade. The thing is I have seen on the Internet that the model has changed. Mine takes dark letters and now they're red. I don't know if the shape or the size have changed too.

Another option could be getting another model from Joola or any other manufacturer. Do you think I will have problems with other Joola or other brands shapes and sizes?

Thank you in advance.

Personally i would check e bay from time to time and see if the old model turns up.
i think you should stay with what you are used to and maybe just go for a new version if you cant get one second hand on e bay.you can get some fantastic bargains on e bay and then re sell if you aint happy.

Thanks for your reply. It's a good idea. Anyway I've written an email to Joola asking about their shapes and sizes. I hope I can have an answer soon.
If anyone can give more information it will be appreciated.

After some years without playing ... the rubbers which are in excellent condition and change the blade.

Sorry, but I doubt this. They might still look good, but after several years the performance is very likely not what it used to be.

For K5 with dark lettering look here

However, I´d recommend to enquire first if the model they´re actually selling isn´t the newer one.

Apart from that, the new one shouldn´t be significantly different from the old but Joola should know exactly.

Have fun starting again and don´t get disappointed if it takes a while before you can reach your "old" level. We have all gone through this ;)

After a week I didn't get an answer from Joola, so no more Joola products. I've ordered a Stiga Infinity VPS. For the moment I'll keep my rubbers and see what happens.
Thank you all for your comments.

How old are the rubbers? If more than 2 years Oxygen exposure will cause the rubbers to play much more dead than the wear makes them look. Worth getting new rubbers.

More information about what I said: oxygen breaks down rubber. A rubber that is sitting on a shelf for long enough will stop working how it did when it was new because it will lose elasticity. Even if it looks brand new, at a certain point it will not play anywhere near how it did when it was new just by sitting on a shelf exposed to oxygen.

A way of thinking about this, if you leave a brand new rubber band on a shelf for a few years and then you try to use it, often the rubber band won't stretch the way it did when it was new. If it is old enough the rubber fibers will start rupturing. Or a rubber band, left stretched around a stack of letters, without any added force, over time, will break. That is from how oxygen causes the rubber molecules to oxygenate.

This is how they look like. I know they're not going to give me the same results as if they were brand new. I couldn't say how old they are. Maybe four or five, and all this time they have been inside the case. Don't you think they're worth a second chance?

not if you can avoid it! thats TWO logos ago, theyve changed logos twice before you have changed rubber they'll be sub par, but then if you can not afford rubber just enjoy playing the game and worry not about it!

Look, if you can't afford new Sriver or, a better rubber like Xiom Vega Pro or Europe, then get inexpensive Chinese imitation Euro rubbers like Dawei XP2008. That is an $8.00 rubber. And it is pretty decent, and very inexpensive.

But trying to use those rubbers, you will not even have a clue that they are messing with your ability to develop your technique.

So, here we go: remember what I said about old rubber bands and oxygen breaking down the elastic chains in rubber molecules? Well, rubber that can grab the ball helps you develop the touch to spin the ball. Developing the touch to spin the ball is how you start developing better technique.

Old rubber where the topsheet is dead and has lost the elasticity to be stretched and distorted by the ball and the grip to wrap around and grab the ball, as the ball, on impact, distorts the shape of the rubber, and rebounds while grabbing which helps create the extra spin, WILL GUARANTEE that you are hitting the ball flatter AND NOT really SPINNING the ball HEAVY. Therefore, you can play with that rubber. But it will ensure that you cannot develop the technique to increase your skill level in fundamentals. And that rubber will encourage you to hit flatter because of the less grippy and less elastic topsheet from it sitting on a shelf for 5-10 years.

But, you get to choose what you want to do.

Ok, I get it... you convinced me (I´m easy). Just ordered an Airoc S (FH) and M (BH) which I´ve seen on sale on contra.de. It was not just about the money. I had only played 10 times with those rubbers. But well, I think you're right... I hope the combination fits my style.
Thanks for your comments. I really appreciate it.

This week I could finally try my new bat:
Stiga infinity blade
Airoc M FH
Airoc S BH

I could play one hour and half and I felt quite happy, specially with the Airoc S in the BH. Lots of control and spin and a really big sweet spot. I could put the ball wherever I wanted with no difficulty. Maybe in the future I'll try a faster rubber in the FH, with less control and more power. Any suggestions?

Regards
