Do blades wear out over time?
They do. Humidity from sweat and glue slow them down a little. Some also say a blade can be "played in" and age adds feeling.

For a pro player who glues every other day this might be a reason to change after a set period of time.
For an amateur player who plays with the same rubbers for a few months it shouldn´t be a major concern.

Airoc said it well.
Also the last alwood blade I used for 5 years+ broke at the neck. All the little things that happen over a long time, such as dropping it, it beeing transported in softcase, many thousands of hits ans smashes can accumulate and damage it.
If you take good care of it there is no problem besides it getting softer. I know someone who had a Butterfly non carbon blade that was almost 30 years old.
