Do you protect tt table legs from possible water damage in basement?

A simple DIY lifehack would be to put the table legs in buckets, empty paint cans or somesuch. That will raise the table by a few mm, but that shouldn't be too big a deal.

Moist/damp will be a problem for most tables, however. Most of them are laminated wood, and are prone to bending, or even delamination, in damp atmospheres.

Aren’t the legs of modern tt tables made out of metal?

Also, most home use tables are foldable and have wheels, so why not just fold them up and put it aside if you have a water problem. Unless you have an old school one that can’t be stored away, then maybe the other suggestions could be useful.
