Green Paddle Gemany Carbon Review:
Blade type: Penhold
Weight: 80g-ish
Thickness: 7mm
Size: Regular
Wood: 3+2 ply (Hinoki-Carbon-??Ayous??-Carbon-Hinoki)
Price: Php 1700 (shipping not included)
Quality:
- Wood splinters can be found on the side of the hinoki wood, some even tear up as I wipe the blade with a cloth.
- Carbon layer starts smudging as I grind the side of the blade with file and sand paper.
-Forehand side hinoki ply is thicker than the backhand side.
-Handle is a bit rough.
Performance:
-Speed: OFF-
-Speed type: Linear
-Control: 9/10
-Throw angle: Medium-High
-The blade has a good feel and has enough dwell time to produce good spin on the ball. Looping is easy and blocking is great.
-For long pips users, the blade is excellent for blocking and hitting shots but too fast for chopping.
-Can play both passive and aggressive game style.
Conclusion:
- The blade has a poor finish out of the box. It has to be sealed to prevent wood splinters from sticking to the rubber sponge. Also the sides and handle had to be sanded and filed to have a comfortable grip on the blade. But despite the bad quality, the blade has good speed and feel for the ball, and good throw angle. Also, despite being branded by Green Paddle (a local table tennis company), it seems that based on the serial no. the blade is made in China.
- As for the price, I think the blade should be worth not more than Php1500. Despite having good performance, it has a poor quality (even DHS Wind Series worth less than Php1000 have better quality than this blade.)
- But I am keeping this blade as a speed upgrade from my Dr. Neubauer Firewall Plus.
*The photos attached were images of the blade after being filed, sanded and lacquer sealed.
