The WTT commentators often refer to keeping the bat high while preparing to return a fast ball. Is this a guide towards counter-looping? We tell the youngsters we are coaching to get down, keep the bat over the table and stay down with it, blocking right over the ball lightly to counter the speed and spin, taking the ball very early. Is this simply the difference in technique between a basic level and world class level?
