I once saw ITTF post a world record of the largest tournament, which had 2000+ participants, in China.
Google shirt showed this: https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/largest-table-tennis-tournament

Please note, participants, not entries. Participants is the actual number of people there. Not 1 person can enter 10 times, so that is 10 entries.

What is the largest in your country?

In Taiwan, there is a tournament that get in 5000 or so kids.
The 2023, edition so far has 4502 registered.
Basically, boys/girls U15/ U12 / U11/ U10 / U9, singles only.
You can only enter in 1 category.

Left part is to separate the entries from the 4 regions in Taiwan, namely, North, Central, South, East.

Basically for both boys and girls, there is a drop off in participation when you get older. But than raises slightly for U15 event. Interesting.... I know in Taiwan, academic pressure is high. So many kids probably play in elementary school and as they get to middle school and high school, many of them drop out of the sport.
