I just saw this random device on Aliexpress:

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256...|x_object_id:1005012741782930|_p_origin_prod:
The device supposedly makes a click sound if you hit it with the right acceleration
As someone who tries to add shadow practice fairly regularly, I am kinda intrigued at this price point.
Anyone here have experience with this or know somebody who might have used it? For experts, thoughts on the viability of such a device?

I cannot imagine how this device would help anyone. Every ball is different. Each ball requires a different response. How do you know what to do? By practicing for 10s of 1000s of hours.

If you use this product and get the correct acceleration, what are you going to do if the ball has no-spin or is loaded? You might do your correct motion and the ball flies 100 feet over the table or under the table. You would be better taking that money and having a lesson with a professional or even 1/4 of a lesson depending on price.

makes sense, of course, the variety of potential balls is infinite.

In my mind, the usefulness of this device at least theoretically, would be as a shadow training accessory (when no table/coaching time is available), a practice which suffers from the same no-ball/lack of access to the spectrum of spin issue.

At least when I shadow train (sometimes with a racket/sometimes with a 3lb weight), it is to train the 3 ideal-but-practical forms for each broad ball type with associated footwork, e.g. FH or BH looping no-spin, underspin or topspin. This *could* fit well within this limited exercise.

This is why I was curious if people had experience with this
