Victas VS > 401

I find myself very interested in the Victas VS > 401 because of it's spin capabilities. I am not a chopper or defender. I am a player who likes to serve with a lot of spin and variation, setting up 3rd ball attacks with spin and placement aiming to close the point as soon as possible. I like speed and power too and use FZD ALC.

When I am not serving, I am quite all round controller type of player - opening on serves with flicks or pushing heavy to induce errors - again very spin oriented. Once attacked I normally block until an attack is slightly weaker when I then counter. I normally stay close to mid distance, but when I step back I lob, counter topspin or even chop from afar. I'm a trained player who can execute any stroke with good technique but I do not like chinese rubbers because they demand that you're always perfectly positioned and I am rather lazy.

Would this rubber suit my style or is it too slow? Is Dignics 05 similar (very grippy spinny) but more power oriented? Maybe Dignics80?

I currently play T05 FH but as it's almost at the end of it's lifetime, I would like to try something different.

If you brush loop, it is indeed quite slow and extremely spinny, which is why I like it so much. But if you engage the sponge is has good power and a high top speed. It does not have the kick or the gears that T05 or D05 has, but it's quite linear and a high top speed. The sponge is hard and quite heavy.

It's very spinny for serves and pushes because the topsheet is relatively soft and slightly tacky so it really grips the ball, similar to D09C. You need to look after these types of ruibbers well to keep that tack on the rubber, with regular cleaning and an adhesive protection sheet. Control for chopping is really good, especially in 1.5mm or even 1.8mm.

Thanks for this! It's really good to hear from someone who has been using this rubber, I think on the attack it feels really promising - Spinny, fast when you use power. On serves very spinny too, perfect.

I am a bit worried on passive shots and when on defence. Will blocking be too tame? That was the reason why I could not stick to H3 Blue sponge - the blocks would not allow me to pressure my opponent enough for them to attack weak, which is when I counter...

I'm not a chopper so I think I'd go for 2.0mm I may chop sometimes but mainly flick, push heavy, counter, block and 3rd ball.
