This will be the first senior tournament for young chopper, Yuka Kaneyoshi. She has no ranking so will have to go through the qualification draw. She is arguably the best player in 1. Bundesliga having beaten both Sabine Winter and Annett Kaufmann (twice).

Yui Sakuma beat Elena Zaharia 3-0 to reach the SF. She will face Bundesliga superstar, Yuka Kaneyoshi, who beat a strong AIN/Russian player, Vlada Voronina. In the bottom half semi finals, Rin Mende will face AIN/Russian player Valeriia Shcherbatykh.

WS Finals between Rin Mende and Yui Sakuma should be starting in a few minutes. 14 yr old Yui Sakuma beat 19 yr old Yuka Kaneyoshi in an all chopper SF. Yuka was actually leading 2-1,7-7 before the expedite rule was triggered. Yui is naturally more attack oriented than Yuka who is very picky about what ball she'll attack. But it was a close 11-9 in the decider going to Yui. I don't think Yui's defensive game will be strong enough against Rin Mende. However, Rin's T-League team, Nissay Red Elf, is the only team without a chopper I believe. This could be a good audition for Yui or Yuka to get team Nissay Red Elf. Both are highly capable choppers.

Fun to see how different Yuka's style is compared to Sato and Hashimoto. Very relaxed, upright, and casual, and yet very effective. I wonder if the difference has anything to do with rubber differences, as Yuka uses short and long pips, and twiddles constantly, and Sato and Hashimoto use inverted and medium pips, or maybe it is just a style choice. Good to have variety.
