I gotta say you are playing well Renz :)

If you pay attention, don't you feel that the trajectory of the ball is longer (less arcey aka pronounced). This way, close to the table you need to take the ball a bit late, when the ball start descending would be best so the ball could stay low.

For the attack when the ball is ascending (fast attack off bounce), it will be completely situational. The mix of upward and forward will vary, the blade will affect much too. Give yourself some time and you execute it well.

Powershot from an awkward position is always hard. Always try to position yourself everytime. In an awkward moment when my torque is low (cant execute full arm loop), I will try to perfect my power transfer, from torso to shoulder to upperarm then forearm. If I don't have time I will try to start the power from my upper arm region. This way my shots will be fast nonetheless of my position. Check out Schlager, he is the master of taking the ball wherever his position is ;)
The other alternative is to take the ball late but impart a LOT of spin, hoping that the next return will be weak thus you will have a better chance to execute a powershot. Combine with placement and this strategy will be devastating.

Thats from me, don't forget to ask Bro Matt ;)

I think your forehand is going well young man :) in this clip you seem to be able to push your opponent back and keep attacking consistently so it's a great improvement. I had already told you about the counterattacking earlier in the bounce but since this is a forum I'll share anyway. It's important if the opponent has attacked with topspin and you intend to counterattack early in the bounce to try and make a quick counter, that you adjust your bat angle. The more spin the incoming ball has the more closed your bat angle needs to be. Really this shot requires a lot of practice, because timing is what makes it successful, timing and feeling. The counter early in the bounce is really 100% arm in the shot and is a much shorter swing. I would say try doing some and gaining some feeling with the timing and the touch and then pick some placements i.e try countering wider etc.

As for playing with power out of position it really depends on how much of your body is restricted in your position, really when you are out of position your focus should be on returning the ball however you can to try and get back in a position to attack, as getting power in your shot when you have no central balance or the ball has come inwards to your body is very difficult, basically just try and use as much body in the shot as you can in your position, legs and core for power remember :)

I just had another practice this morning...
I really had a problem with my other lefty friend who has been playing for 5 yrs now...
his serves are really deadly, fast and spinny..
although i think his serve is quite illegal cuz whenever he plays w/ me he tries to hide the ball under his armpit just like wang liqin's serve...

So the position..... i think this is the one that im talking about sir matt...

as u can see in 5:26 ma long tries to get himself in position for the forehand in the wide BH corner...but then he lacked speed in getting there, so he twists his upper torso to generete some power....this is what i am trying to do :)))))))))

First thing Renz. You're technique is A LOT better than the last video I watched. You're improving so fast. It seems that you are having trouble with your shots only because you are slowing down your stroke. Normally you want to hit the ball at the top of it's bounce to produce the strongest possible shot while not risking hitting the net. To hit the ball on the rise or while falling increases the risk of error and requires a lot of practice. In general it seems that you are very capable of attacking so I suggest swinging faster to get your forehand more spin and even more speed. This will help you with your partners who are lefty because you can try to attack their backhands just as they are attacking yours.
