Is there any method to apply to long pips so that they don't break easily? It's so annoying to find pips missing after a just few weeks of training :/

This is actually a problem that can be solved quite simply. The pips are breaking off easily because they're facing outwards. If you glue the rubber on with the pips facing inwards, they're much less likely to break away. And if you mount the pips on a sponge layer when you do this, they're secured even more reliably.

interesting idea! So I separate the sponge from the pips and then glue the long pips inversed to the sponge?

What pips are you using? German, and Japanese pips tend to be a bit more durable than Chinese pips
yeah chinese meteor 8512 pips. If anyone knows pips that play similar but with better durability that would help too

tell that to my opponents, I am just chopping...
I know, one of my training partners hit the ball like there is no tomorrow every time…
He misses like 2/3 rd’s of them…
Basically gives away the match….
It’s fun to train him though.

Cheers

I've never used that one but its been around for a while. For good control check out the Yasaka Phantom 0012 or Butterfly Feint OX

HI ZEeN
Back in the day (!979-1981) ish I was lusing lp and was practicing 4-5 times a week and going to tournaments and found the same problem. I was using Feint and found that pimples would be breaking off by beginning of 2nd week. This can get very expensive. Solution is to have a practice racket and a tournament or match racket.
The LP s that are stronger may or may not be good for your particular style. I don't know which LPs are less breakable these d ays.
I am afraid suggestions to turn the rubber over are teasing you a bit :)
good luck

all are still breakable.

its not only Chinese that don't last long, but it is mostly always the Chinese that have the shortest life span. It is cheaper too, so it won't be that costly.

Regarding match and practice - that is what a lot of semi pros do too.
since, most of the hours is practicing and very little ours is tournament.
match play, it will always be a newer sheet

last training, 4 additional pips fell out. WTF?
It feels disgusting and unsettling, so I will switch back to inverted.
But maybe I will try short pips in the next off-season.
