To Tenergy 05 users,

Tenergy 05 was released in 2008 and it's still one of the most popular rubbers, only bested by the likes of Hurricane 3.

What is the reason you personally still use it?

For me it's the quality of production and consistency in the game.

Not sure if it's bested by H3, but perhaps for some players.

From the Tenergy/Dignics range, I find T05 still the easiest to generate high spin and good speed. It's more forgiving to imperfect technique and it rewards good technique. It is the most sensitive to incoming spin from the range as well though.

Lol, no it hasn't. It has stayed at 59.99 since it was released.
I am buying at around 50 USD or slightly less direct from Japan.

it is still a really grippy rubber and due to the ball change it is way easier to play, so even intermediate players can now control it. the down side is that it is not as dynamic as modern rubbers and the passive play is just ridiculous sensitive to spin even compared to modern more spinnier rubber. also the price inflation by other companys make it seam like a better deal, even though it is still more expensive due to butterfly having their no sales policy like other companys have where you get 20% off. so i would still give someone a nittaku g-1 or vega pro for alternatives or ventus extra, vega x for a more modern version compared to tenergy 05. but if you insist of playing butterfly and want to pay more then go for it

Back then, it was even cheaper, but you still have inflation. Tenergy is not anymore the most expensive rubber. These new Andro are more expensive. Stiga is the same. Others are like 10 USD max cheaper, but their lifespan is the third of Tenergy's.

True, one of the reasons I still use Tenergy is the durability. For the price you get good performance and probably the best durability of its class. Difficulty of use is a drawback though, it bites too hard and there's rubbers like the Bluestorm Pro AM that are better in that regard.

The majority of my elderly club mates use some sort of tenergy, mainly 05 and 05fx. I reckon it’s a tradition and they keep copying each other. My younger club mates‘ equipment is more diverse. I’d say about 50% tenergy and 50% ESN like Donic and Tibhar. Interestingly, nobody uses dignics aside 1 guy. He’s one of if not the best there though.

Half of my club-mates are pipsters of some sort, typically the boomers crowd. The remaining majority say two-thirds are DIGNICS ( Yay!!! ), the remainder are Donic or some sort of ESN. I belong to the Non-Pipster and non-Dignics crowd. I am the minority.

Btw, there are no booster crowd in my club.

We have some defenders but most are inverted users. Most use Donic. We're lucky and can good get prices from a Donic warehouse so that's the main reason. Also Stiga. I'm pretty much the only one that uses Tenergy in my club, 2 older gentlemen use Chinese rubbers too, so it's a weird blend.

People love T05 on backhand still, it's been out for 10+ years and most people are satisfied with it here.
They jump from T05 to Dignics 09c or they never upgrade.
Yes I agree, No need to upgrade if it's working well for you. The newer rubbers are NOT always better. :)

I think that durability of current Tenergys is a myth. When Tenerys first came out they were very hard iut of the package and you had to play for about 15h with it before it came alive. First Tenergies also lasted relly long time. Nowadays Tenergies are great out of the packege but their performance drops significantly after 3 weeks. To me Hybrid MK pro has better durability than Tenergy. MK’s are not as fast as Tenergy but it holds its properties much better than Tenergys eventough the tops sheet starts to look rubbish sooner than top sheets of Tenergys.

A lot of my club mates think so as well

If it works why mess with it, right?
Yes.
Unpack rubber, put on booster the way you´ve perfected it for your desired feeling and performance, and off you go. This is at least why some friends stick with t05, they simply do not want to try anything else because the process of boosting would have to be adjusted, and they don´t want to waste time and rubber sheets before they achieve the desired result.

But I agree that also for people who just like any rubber out of the packaging, there is not always a reason to try the newest s**t, especially as it takes some people too long to adjust and eventually find the new rubber brings them no advantage.
