My biggest problem is the never-ending influx of people trying to set up "helpful" TT channels.

They all end up teaching different things, making people confused and letting them think there's golden solutions to their problems that bypass the amount of training an actual pro puts in.

If you have any tips for jpen tpb topspin and fore how to get a forehand to arc down more and have lesser chances of going out of the table that would be helpful. 😊

Hahaha Tyce i get you… Honestly I don’t watch a lot of youtube channels about table tennis except for technical table tennis ;), i find that going to practice and getting advice from my actual coach is a lot better

How do you usually practice footwork? Do you only do regular drills on the table? Also do you train your legs at home?
Well... I guess one of the reasons it is the biggest problem is that I don't practice it in a planned or structured way. I just do regular drills. So maybe leg workouts would be a good thing? Much easier to get time to do if it can be done at home. Good idea!

Yeah exactly that’s something i’ve been doing recently.
As for footwork on the table, the best way to fix it is by being consistent. Its a footwork exercise, not one where you are working on the speed of your shots.
Go for slow spinny loops, so that you can focus on your actual footwork and not on the stroke itself.
What it also does is that it helps you out with stamina and power in your legs, when you stay consistent, you allow your legs to actually get tired which will strengthen them and make them better.
Here’s a list of footwork exercises, i’m not creating anything that’s not known, but some people like it to be in a list :
List of footwork exercises :
  • falkenburg : 1 backhand - step around forehand - forehand on the forehand side
  • 3 points forehand. You play all forehand, on the forehand, middle then backhand
  • 2 forehands, 2 forehands on the backhand side of the table
  • 2 backhands, 2 forehands, this can work on your transition ( also go for consistency )
  • 1 middle ( take it with your forehand) one free
  • Backhand, middle ( with forehand ), backhand, forehand
  • Forehand, middle ( with forehand) , forehand, backhand ( if you want it to be advanced you take the last backhand with forehand, but it is really hard)
  • Random placed on 50 to 75% of the table, you take it with your forehand

My biggest problem is my reaction time to FH balls. It is like I am often surprised I get a ball down the line and I panic.

I am trying to shorten my backswing and just take such balls by turning (from the neutral position you are almost ready to hit a FH shot if you turn a bit).

Also, my opponents seem to hide it well that they are going down the line, I can rarely see them going for it.

yeah when he goes down the line it is pretty annoying. I’d say maybe try to keep your hand up and wait in the middle when waiting for the ball so that you are ready for both sides

Club level players pushes are like weird, totally weird.
You loop hard and the ball goes too long.
You loop soft and they can kill your loop.
It is darn difficult to find the middle path.
