Deborah Vivarelli for whatever reason just never got comfortable in MLTT. But she does much better in WTT. Her match with Lee Eunhye was much closer than I would have ever guessed:

I won't say it is the only reason but it certainly didn't help that she has been caught in the middle of a full-blown mutiny against the coach occurring with her team throughout the season. I hinted at it in the MLTT thread but it came to a head publicly last weekend.

That being said, she also was down 0-2 before coming back against Ivy Liao from Canada at Singapore Smash recently.

She said the reason why she didn't make the Paris team wasn't injury - it was because she just wasn't selected. So she set her goals for LA 2028, just as she had goals for Paris 2024. What should a top athlete do? Just play without any goals regardless of realistic expectations? If you asked her to give her realistic probability of making LA 2028, then that would be more interesting and she might still place bets on herself with unrealistic confidence.
"I wonder what I will have to do next time to convince any doubters." and "-----> los Angeles 2028 here I come" =/= "Pretty sure Winter didn't expect to be Olympian 2028."

Please don't waste my time.

well, I feel Korea is way ahead of Germany.
The youth in Korea is just amazing.
They have youth and experience.

The Taiwanese youth are behind by at least 2 years on experience.
As if Annett Kaufmann didn't win WYC 2024. And Mia Griesel (WR59) beat Yoo Yerin (WR3). Just because KOR beat TPE and TPE beat GER, then KOR >> GER? KOR even had a difficult time against HKG in both U19 GT (3-1 in match score and 3-2 in M4) and U15 GT (1-3).

another post from mister go retire
anything can happen, but then again, you want to retire half the womens world ranking
If Franziska with that fantastic record against the CNT didn't convince Rosskopf and DTTB to "grant" him the MS for Paris 2024, what are the odds of Winter securing hers?

All other countries are all independent. What a joke. Better stick to your typical answer of "not at liberty to disclose" than share fake news and your lame and self-conflicting "insider insights" that are far-removed from reality.

Don't waste my time either. My point was clear, after all, were you not the one posting that Sora Matsushima felt he could win the 2024 Paris Olympics? Taking everything that comes out of a competitive athlete's mouth as a sign of realistic expectations is folly.

Post of the month. Keeping this as a time capsule for LA 2028.

Who’s this German Andre Bertelsmeier guy? He’s been doing quite well so far
German U19 champion. He did play at WJTTC 2024 and European Champs 2024. I think he lost 4-2 to Felix at the latter if my memory serves me right (actually, it was 4-1).

French men's doubles: it happened EXACTLY what I was talking about last week. Poret is out though he's been favored by the french staff giving one of the top double player, Esteban Dorr. It was a righty/lefty pair but still, they're out, and it's been brutal, sure it was Tomo and Sora some will say but still: Poret will NEVER be a reliable double player.

Flavien Coton had to play with ... Hwan Bae, and Flavien is a an excellent double guy but if you give him a so-so australian kid (seriously, Australia....) he won't be able to save the situation. Dorr + Coton would have been a better choice, way better.

Now Coton and Poret are still alive in the single event. If Coton goes further than Poret, I hope the french staff will reconsider their decisions.

EDI:, sh.t I was wrong it was even way more doable for Dorr and Poret vs Lim Jonghoon/An Jaehyun !! When you remember how Esteban was crazy angry and fuming when he lost to the Bros in the french nationals double final, you can be sure Poret has been roasted right after!

You can write all you want but Lim Junghoon is one of the best doubles players in the world and An is no slouch either. Completely okay to lose to that pair, Dorr can take medication if he needs ir.

No that's not, not that hard has a lefty/righty ideal pair. Lim and An are only ranked 16 and were not qualified to play at Fukuoka. Tomo and Sora are ranked 5.

You know, I remember the good old days when zeio used to contribute translations of CNT post-match interviews to the forums. Those were amazing!

But he said that was too much work and now he just flames everybody.

Zeio is past his prime and should probably retire.

They don't play together often. They win almost every event they play together. Do better. Lim usually plays with Jang.

It would be extremely helpful if you both can compile a list of shithole countries where ITTF & WTT should not be hosting events.

So that events can be limited to perfect places like China & most European countries excluding most non EU places like Turkey, Bosnia etc.

Is Nigeria OK ?
Couldn't be bothered. Ask IOC president Thomas Bach.

Bach: India not ready to bid for 2024 Olympics
https://www.deseret.com/2015/4/27/20480677/bach-india-not-ready-to-bid-for-2024-olympics/
"Frankly, we were a little bit surprised about this speculation (of a potential Indian bid)," Bach said at a news conference after a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Because of different reasons we think it will be a little too quick for India to have successful Olympics in 2024."

India claims it will bid for 2032 Olympic Games but Bach warns against premature discussions
https://www.insidethegames.biz/arti...-but-bach-warns-against-premature-discussions
India has never hosted any Olympic event but did stage the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, an event overshadowed by poor preparations, financial mis-management and widespread claims of corruption.

Bach recommended that the country postpone its plans to enter the race for the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games when he last visited India in 2015, still thought to mark the only occasion where he has publicly discouraged an bid since taking office.

India as country has lot of problems including being a guaranteed a gold medal every time if corruption becomes an Olympic sport. There are other problems like hygiene

But are there many countries without political corruption or human rights issues ? Yeah maybe China LOL

My point is this > Which country does not have a problem ? There were problems in Athens 2004 & Rio 2016 Olympics & Atlanta 1996 shootings. Was USA a bad host because of the shootings ? Of course not. One could argue that China should never have been given the Olympics thanks to its huma right records etc.

I also don’t think Olympics should be India’s priorities but I do not think it is due to 2010 corruption , But I would say that India should have learned its lesson but may not be still be ready to host 2036 Olympics.

India’s attempts to get Olympics seem to be more of political ambitions of Modi to just host everything in his home state of Gujarat.

But the crazy part is that you go out of your way to troll to blame the event host just because some birds flew into a building. How stupid & ridiculous is that ?

BTW I think there was a leaky roof at Calcutta 1975 WTTC. And Waldner got sick at 1987 WTTC in New Delhi

BTW players in Chennai be beware. I heard there are lot of peacock birds in that part of the country. They are huge birds & can fly short distances. Watch out. And don’t get trampled by elephants
Nice of you to go out of your way to defend bird droppings. Name me another instance in which that has happened in another country. Despite the constant load-shedding, WTTC Durban 2023 made sure no sizable wild animals were on site...

p.s.
Another instance during the R16 match between Lee Eunhye and SYB at 6:4 of G2.

Birds and their droppings can carry over 60 diseases

WTT SCT Chennai 2025 will be remembered as a contest between bird droppings and "seed" droppings...

At least 7 out of 16 MS seeds are out before or in R16. Same for WS, 7 out of 16.
