i dont think chinese rubbers do most people any favours

none of that is even the issue here or the point at all. i COULD also just play with chinese rubbers. its just that tensor work better, especially based on my situation. so why would i play something that obviously isnt the optimal choice just ''because'' ?

i wonder if people read and even get the point? all i am saying here is: that using equipment, that is relatable to your actual training and your coach simply works way better. why would i try to brute force a playing style with equipment... that is the complete opposite of what my coach teaches? and the complete opposite of what everyone in the clubs here use.

i am talking broad picture. i am not an individual who self teaches and does whatever i want to. there is a reason it is called ''chinese style'' i dont live in china. neither is my coach chinese or plays chinese style. every club and every coach here teaches european style...short and efficient strokes. therefore it makes absolutely zero sense to bruteforce something to become a snowflake even tho its highly inefficient.

it doesnt matter what I WANT. it matters what WORKS. and how the local TT scene is build upon. wich is actually quite funny because it also goes in hand with what you just said.

''doesnt know how to use the power properly'' just as an example
...and how exactly do you think someone is learning how to use power properly for chinese style and how to use the technique for chinese style strokes...

if literally noone here even teaches it because noone is coaching chinese style. some clubs i visited, the coaches didnt even understand that i was using chinese rubbers and told me to adapt more efficient strokes, wich wasnt even working at all. the coaches in the clubs literally had no idea how to even play chinese equipment themselves, because they are playing a completely different style.

see where i am going? it literally doesnt matter what gear i use, you use, or what gear i want to use. it doesnt matter. the coaching and the training matters. and you pick the equipment that is apropiate to what your coach is teaching you. you dont take car driving lessons and show up in a helicopter because you prefer helicopters. it makes no sense because thats not what the lesson even teaches in the first place.

if i would be chinese, and i lived in china and i had a coach teaching chinese style with chinese rubbers... yeah sure thing i would use chinese equipment then. but i dont. so why would i want to?
Hey man, you made a post that said most people, now people are replying to show you that your original post is not necessarily true. There are a lot of examples, even in this post, of people who benefit from the use of Chinese rubber. no need to get Ultra defensive especially when you are the one who made the general statement, and now you are trying to say you are just talking about yourself, anyways I’m glad the new rubber is working out for you. Everyone has equipment that works the best for them and their own needs, hopefully.

when i say ''most people'' i am assuming that people can understand what i mean by that in the first place. everything you say is always coming from a point of view.

you see my country flag on the left? when i am saying ''most people'' and you dont see a chinese flag there, obviously i am talking about most people... HERE... in europe.

same as statements like ''most people use chinese rubbers'' arent true, depending on where you re coming from. for example, i havent even met a SINGLE person here anywhere who even plays with chinese rubbers OR blades. not a single one. if i ask people at local clubs what they think about hurricane or yinhe or something, i am sure they dont even know what yinhe even is or you re getting looked down upon because using stuff like aliexpress or buying from china is really something most people dont even support at all. 99% of people here (especially club players) play either butterfly or andro equipment, including rubbers. i am literally the only person i have ever encountered who uses chinese rubbers in general.

we also have huge communities in street tabletennis. hundreds of people meeting up every day to play. havent seen a single person even using something with a chinese name on. they dont even buy online either. everyone is buying in local stores shopping local brands.

if you run around with a chinese blade here, you literally feel like a complete alien and the only people i constantly hear talking about chinese stuff... are people online. i havent met a single person actually using it in real life.

but if you happen to live in a country where you have coaches teaching chinese style, hey good for you...use it then because it makes sense. but over here where i live, you stick to what your coach says and when your coach uses european gear and tells you that you should use european gear because it will fit the style of play way better... you use european gear. you re not like ''nah coach.. i rather use that weird chinese thing there, noone here even heard about''

i actually thought to be clear on this and assume people are as intelligent enough to read between the lines that everything i say comes from my standpoint, based on where i live. heck its even in my very first sentence.
''I want to state that this is just my opinion, based on my observations but also on various people trying and playing my setups.''

I’m confused. If “most people” you encounter don’t use Chinese rubbers or have never even “heard of them” why are you making a post saying that “most people” don’t benefit from Chinese rubbers when you or the people in your community don’t have experience (or much experience) with Chinese rubbers?

I do agree that you should listen and trust your coach though. They have experience and will be able to guide you better.

Btw, you don’t need a Chinese style forehand to use a Chinese rubber. You just have to be able to engage the rubber with the power from your legs and core, and the snap of your elbow and wrist.

wich basically means you do NEED a chinese style, wich is exactly what you were just saying.

thing is, through all those answers here (it seems like mainly people who are really diehard chinese rubber fans kind of feel pissed of now and try to... ''convert'' )

i still have not gotten a single answer of ''why''

like yeah... its cool that you ''can play hard tacky chinese rubber without being a chinese and all you have to do is put every muscle of your body into each shot and...''

and why exactly is that a good thing? why do that... if you dont even have to. it hugely inefficient to begin with. and its not that its such a ''norm'' either. when i look up lists of setups of pretty much any professional player, doesnt matter if its top players or for example german Bundesliga. literally the only people using chinese rubbers(maye there are very few snowflake exceptions) ... are chinese. and that is for a reason. but i am happy to learn, can you give me high rating non asia players who actually actively play chinese style? and if there arent any... why do you think that is?

When u say most ppl, most think it means the world, not europe dude.

actually most people i know would disagree. and i think its also just logically to assume that because its the only definition that makes sense. how would i know about every person on the entire world?

everything a person says is in context to where that person is (besides the internet ofc. somehow on the internet, people allways try to argue and twist your words and assume the wildest things noone IRL would ever do)

if i go to any person i know IRL (and not on the internet) and tell them: ''you know, i think most people...'' they 100% know what i mean by that. and they would also be able to.. again. can you please go back to the very first post. i said with the first sentence that everything i say is MY opinion. my opinion can ONLY be shaped by what happens to me and around me in a given location. thats the definition of opinion and how an opinion is shaped.

it also means that i never ever stated that what i say is 100% correct or is correct for literally EVERYONE. because that would be a fact, wich it is not.

do you understand what the word ''opinion'' means? i was never even stating anything besides that to begin with. cool, you dont agree with my opinion. doesnt mean i am wrong or right. its just my opinion. therefor most of what people try to argue on is absolutely pointless. its my opinion.

you can tell me that chinese rubber is the best invention since the big bang... it doesnt matter because it wont change my opinion. what changes and defines my opinion is what i experience in real life and related to that.

Irl and online is different dude like you said. So therefore you need to choose ur words differently because the internet is so big and “most ppl” is way too broad of a way to describe what you are saying

Lots to unpack here lol.

First of all, you seem like the only one here who seems "pissed off". Also, you are the one trying to convert people to not using Chinese rubber. And now you're mad that people are pushing back against your notion. You're even arguing with multiple people and getting angry that they didn't understand that you didn't actually mean "most people" when you said "Most people". lol, like cmon dude, are you trolling?

Anyways, to address your efficiency point, i'm not really sure what you're saying. Are you trying to imply that athletes shouldn't use all that their body is capable of when playing sport?

In this sport, when it comes to equipment, there's always a trade off. If you want more spring from your sponge, it might take less energy, but you're going to lose out on control (a point you were incorrect about) and possibly even top end gears. Another factor a lot of people consider is price. Chinese rubbers are generally cheaper than the euro-alternatives. If you could get a rubber that is cheaper and performs better, you would be silly to not at least consider it.

You also mentioned that you think chinese rubbers are "flawed" because you have to boost them. if its not ready out of the package, thats a flaw to you. Do you hold that view point conistently? have you never upgraded anything in your life? When i used to ride motocross bikes, i put new, upgraded parts on my motorcyle. There's hundreds of examples of this in life and in sport.

Anyways, I digress. I hope you enjoy your euro rubbers. I"m sticking with my setup that i know works well for me.

i noticed that specifically on the sound. when i played with chinese hard rubber, my shots where always really loud with a clear hit-sound to it instead of a brushing sound. made me realize, i dont even use chinese-technique to make use of those rubbers to begin with.
Everybody knows that chinese rubbers need different techniques :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

phfff... i give up man...
literally anyone i would give those exact words IRL would know exactly what i mean, and wouldnt even try to get into useless argumentations to begin with.

pissed off? not in the context. i literally dont care what you use, and if you want to use a frying pan with no rubber at all to play, i dont care.

here is the thing tho: i never even wanted to get into an argumentation in the first place. its not an argumentation. its an OPINION. i stated my OPINION and nothing more. you either can get something out of it or you disagree and thats fine. but trying to argue with opinions is stupid right from the start and i was not the one who started this argumentation. ''like yeah but you said this and that and but but... you can boost but but you can this and that and...'' bro... i literally dont care. its my opinion, period. since opinions cant be right or wrong, there isnt even a point in arguing. if you disagree... just... scroll past instead?

the entire post was more of a little journey recap to write some experiences down somewhere and nothing more. thats why my very first sentence explicitly stated that is is an opinion and nothing more.

and then came people in trying to argue because.. well thats what people online absolutely love to do because they are bored i guess and things escalate.

This is a forum and your opinion is welcome, but so are the opinion others. Disagrements do happen and will always happen.
It just so happened that many people do not agree with you and want to give their imput so others that read this post can read both sides and evaluate what position is right for them and don't automatically have to assume what is stated is correct.

hes just a dude who attempted to use Chinese rubber and failed miserably then come here to unload his disappointment.

then he plays victim by blaming forum members not understand exactly what he meant “people=european”

this topic goes nowhere ;)

i recognise that tensors are probably way better for my game as an amateur

however i am masochistic and i like working harder to achieve something that probably has a way more efficient and easier way to reach said goal for no good reason at all

because clearly if i went through more hardships than is necessary compared to the average person, then surely that means i am way better than him

Maybe...........maybe not !
I have always used chinese rubbers and most of my blades are chinese as well.Last year I decided to try out some tensor rubbers just to see what it was all about. I bought a pair of Rozenas and had just about the same shitty experience as the OP only the other way around. 😂 😂 😂

There is a danger though we should all be careful to avoid and it is : "Generalizing".
It is one thing to have an opinion but a completely different animal to think it should apply to everybody else.

  • Gozo gung-ho.
  • Tried Chinesey rubber, well, sort of halfway actually: Dignics 09C
  • Gozo ended up with tennis / golfer's elbow.
  • Gozo bows respectfully to Dignics 09C, recite its last rite and now back to the soft and warm embrace of European tensor.

Out of curiosity, which what is Razka 7?

I have used H3 Neo for long with my YSE blade, and it was pretty slow most of the time (Did not boost. Even was not aware of that at that time). But I loved the amount of spin I was able to generate in serves even when people knew that I am doing backspin serve they failed to lift it up. (Again I am talking around 1200-1400 level). If I used to hit the loop properly it used to really cool with a low arc , winner most of the time.

But currently I changed my rubber to Razka 7 on my FH. Yet to play with it.
