Is it really smart to seed only 8 players in a champions event?
They copied the 25% seeding rule from Tennis, but draw sizes are very different in WTT for the major events. Masters 1000, which is the Champions equivalent in ATP mostly has 96 player fields, so you would never get top 10 facing in first rounds.

I get where they copied it from but I don't like the degree of randomness it introduces given the competitiveness at the top level. Having the Lins play each other when both are legit threats to win the tournament gives no room to build up. Having tough matches against underrated players in early matches doesn’t give you room to adapt your performance level to the expected stress.

The most unfortunate player in this tournament has to be Lin Yun-Ju who met the one player he really liked to avoid as much as he can: LSD. It's also unfortunate for the fans that two of the exciting and brilliant players met so early and one of them would end his journey after first round.

With that said, Lin Yun-Ju put up a great fight and co-created many high light rallies and awed audience. In the end he still fell short and added one more loss count in a H2H stats against LSD. However, this is the closest loss he suffered between the two even though the score was 1:3. For each game he lost, he was in the position to win it only LSD did better in critical points.

Many high level pros have problems against Lin Yun-Ju but LSD seems comfortable handling him. It may be the playing style.

with chinese mentality like these, and the way they abuse players, is why the likes of FZD don't want to play any more.
chinese fans really need to learn ethics and morals from the western world.
Laughable. Wasting my time again.

Tell me what Winter's father said about German mentality in response to her Instagram post.

Winter joined the Dark Side because "many very good Asian players have problems...". How many of them has she beaten thus far? In comparison, how many for her WD partner WY? The fact remains that unless the quota is increased, her odds for even WD are not good, let alone WS.

Auch das Überraschungsdoppel aus Sabine Winter und Yuan Wan konnte die deutsche Bilanz nicht mehr retten: Erstmals seit 2015 bleibt der DTTB bei einer Individual-WM ohne Medaille.
Even the surprise doubles pairing of Sabine Winter and Yuan Wan could not save the German record: For the first time since 2015, the DTTB remains without a medal at an individual World Championships.

Courage to reinvent

The idea of trying something completely different at an advanced age in table tennis came to Winter as early as the beginning of 2023, as the specialist magazine "tischtennis" chronicled in its December 2024 issue. At the WTT Contender in Doha, Sabine Winter lost to the strong South Korean Joo Cheonhui, who was defeated 3-0 by Manika Batra's long pimples one round later, just as she lost to another relatively unknown Indian player using similar material one tournament later. "I'd often noticed that many very good Asian players have problems when they face opponents with an unorthodox playing style. I then asked myself why I wasn't playing with such material," Winter explained in the "tt" magazine.

You do realize you quoted a Tieba user whose only effective message in your quote was calling Wang Yidi "Dumb" right?

You do realize you quoted a Tieba user whose only effective message in your quote was calling Wang Yidi "Dumb" right?
zeio is too blinded to see that
tieba users used to only abuse foreigners, now they also abusing they own.

the way the hate is accepted, and now as a norm, really shows how low the standard or class of those supposedly called fans has become.
yet, the same - ie zeio, is here laughing about other countries standard or class.

i wonder if zeio sharing these nonsense, he expects people to agree, or just see how low he and those tieba users has become.
It sure isn't a good thing to be sharing, but he just loves sharing it.

these users have made things so toxic, and zeio is polluted in it, he can't even tell right and wrong any more, or maybe he never really did?

PS. the same will happen in real life, so it isn't just cyber bullying, since we all seen how chinese fans boos they own. The whole culture is messed up.

I went to the evening session yesterday. It was well attended and the atmosphere was lively, especially during the Matsushima vs LSS and LSD vs LYJ matches. As @rpb23 pointed out, it was the closest LYJ came in scoring a win against LSD. He had one game point in G1 and G2 and at least one in G4. With a bit of luck, he could have won the match. Imo, this matchup doesn't suit LYJ because his chiquita is not as effective as against other opponents. Most of the time LSD is ready to counter with one of his BH bullets. The chiquita was only effective when LYJ managed to execute it towards the crossover point or to the wide FH. In fact, pushing seemed to be a more effective tactic as LSD missed many third balls. Of course, you need to mix things up to keep the opponent guessing, which is easier said than done.

Other random observations:
  • In his post match interview, Moregard was joking that he would gain some weight if he kept eating the delicious food here
  • There was a free autograph session with Adriana Diaz and Satsuki Odo for the first 100 people in line. I didn't line up because I was watching the Matsushima vs LSS match. However, I managed to get a snapshot of Diaz and Odo sharing a laugh
  • When I checked on Wednesday evening, online tickets were sold out from Saturday onwards
  • The platinum seats (right next to the table) were sold out the quickest, maybe within a few hours of release
  • Matsushima overcame a 0:2 deficit at a WTT tournament, which might have been a first for him. The crowd was cheering for him and he kept fighting => home court advantage can help

Tourist DHK
Someone loss and they are labeled tourist…. 32 will loose without winning a match basically as this will be the norm in KO of any sports.

these low class chinese feel they have the right to label or cyber bullying everyone just like they feel they have the right to confiscate other delegation's things.

the man with the grey hair about to give something to Taiwan's athlete is the minister of education (the ministry that oversees sports in Taiwan) and the head of the delegation at FISU university games. The minister was due to give a gift to two medal winners straight after the medal ceremony and you have these chinese self belief "gods" that is trying to make everything about them.

thankfully that majority of the Chinese I know are people with good morals and ethics and these zeios of the world are minority, but the culture will be polluted over time when his children becoming worse than him. They are probably learning the bullying tactics shown by their politicians.

you see, zeio doesn't have the guts to bully players from powerful nations at the moment, it will always be chinese players and japanese or other asians.
