Two Americans into the next round of a Champions event. When's the last time that happened?

Also, is anyone else noticing way more power coming from both Lily and Kanak? Kanak seems to have a lot more sting on his FHs, and Lily's slinging some putaway shots on both sides that I've never seen before. Am I imagining things?

Have either changed equipment or coaches lately?

Kanak's increasing pressure, I wouldn't call it power, has been a theme for a while now. While his power has increased in recent years he still doesn't hit harder than most but his impeccable early timing is what really increases the pressure. JNT training camps will keep you sharp.

I hadn't seen Lily's match with DHK yet but I'm sure she hasn't changed equipment as she has rigidly used the same thing forever, and she for a while now isn't really actively working with a coach. Daniel Gonzalez being on her sideline is probably a byproduct from Diaz's family (which includes much of the PR team including Gonzalez) recently hosting Lily, the Lebruns and some others for a vacation in PR after Vegas Smash.

Its really funny how Lind said that he and his coach decided he needed to go bomba after his timeout when m y impression was that Lnd decided he himself needed to go bomba without any serious coaching input lol...

Japan's Odo will meet American Lily next round. Odo is obviously a better player. Somehow, playing style wise, Lily has a decent chance against Odo. For Lily her best chance is playing typical women's game, i,e exchange with fast pace mainly from backhand. Odo is a powerful player but fast pace with occasional wide angle will handicap her from launching those power shots. Of course, Lilly needs to control her unforced errors.

Is that really the "typical women's game"? Looking over the top women in the game currently and recently, I don't see that as a strongly prevailing theme.

I'll let him chime in on whether DHK spoke candidly about her condition and the management of it with him or not - would like to hear what her direct quotes were if it wasn't what he posted above. At any rate, dealing with an incurable limiting condition when she still would have had years of prime under her belt sucks.

I don't think I've ever seen player timeouts cause such a dramatic shift in fortune for both players in the same match.

Anders was dominating Duda until Duda took a timeout. Then Duda went on to win 9 straight points to win game 2 and then win an easy game 3.

Looked like Duda was going to cruise to victory in the 4th game, but then a timeout way behind for Anders and then he goes on to dominate the rest of the way to victory.

Would love to see post timeout % point wins for each.

Almost all the women in the VIP front row were on their phones the entire session, not clapping or showing any reaction for any player.

I know he has been working on it. But in last month WTT event; there seems to be an even further improvement. I mean Jang forehand is really good and Felix could hang in with him in the rallies. That’s what I meant
