I don't think Kanak holding the table is as big a deal as it used to be, same with Harimoto.though both are much moee dangerous when their opponent is unable to force them back significantly. Both though clearly have enough power if not consistently to hit through people on demand.
I think that's true for both of them against most players. It's also probably true for Harimoto against Kanak, but not the other way around. Kanak really needs to play his A game to have a chance against Harimoto, and that means he needs to hold the table.

By taking two games from Tomo, I do think XP performed really well. However, Wang Hao probably put a lot of effort preparing XP for the match and believing XP could have won the match if he could...

Two Chinese coaches surprised me quite a bit. One was former men's head coach QZJ and WH. Both seemed a super 'good boy' type players in their playing days, gentle and obedient. However, once they became coaches, they showed a mean and rough side of personality, often scolding and yelling publicly to players unless he is one of established ones like Ma Long.
Maybe coaches under tremendous pressure to win, maybe that's what they were treated as players, whatever the reasons, they should pay attention to their public images.
Who knows, maybe they don't see it as an issue. Within China there's a growing sense of...let's say confidence. Older Chinese see the West as advanced and that their cultural norms should be adopted, and that's shared by many other Asians. The sense I get from China is that the younger generation is starting to become more Japan-like in that they're starting to believe in the advantages of their own cultural values. Guys like WH might not care about their image to foreigners, or even believe that their ways are superior and the rest of the world is just soft.

It almost seems as if Zeio has one or more multiple accounts that he uses to validate the nonsense he writes with his main account, and if that were true, I wouldn't be surprised at all.

you not the first that has said this, you sure not the last.
that's how the chinese web army work, they spin all these webs for a living.

Place winning odds for upcoming two men's semis:.
At this level, everyone has a chance winning even one may never has beaten the other.
WCQ vs Truls: 75% in WCQ's favor
Tomo vs Kanak: 80% with Tomo

Main Case for Truls:
As a lone Chinese in the semi, WCQ and his coach face extraordinary pressure to win which may improve Truls's chance.

Main Case for Kanak:
Unfamiliarity of him and his playing style
Tomo is so focusing on WCQ he may take Kanak as an easy 'give me' and underestimate him.

Togami 1-4 WCQ (2) (-7, 5, -7, -5, -3)
Not bad for taking a game in an away game on home soil. LOL
Uda: Good for you for pulling ahead by 1 game, Togami!

Although Togami took a set, it was pretty meh since most of the points were Wang's error in initiating attacks

If someone gave me 4-1 or 5-1 odds I would take Kanak. They have played before. If I were going to pick anyone in the top 10 I thought Kanak had the best chance against it would be Harimoto.

Just checked online odds. Kanak is +700 (i.e., a 7-1 underdog).

I guess Japan hopes that Harimoto bears Kanak and Truls exhausts Wang so that with less rest, he might be beatable by Harimoto. I don't think this plan will work but I give them credit for trying...

(And in case it isn't obvious to anyone, I am joking...)

Kanak has a winning record vs Tomo. You don't underestimate people you uave a losing record against unless you are plain stupid and Tomo is not.
