I just got one… Only ”bench tested so far”…

The same basic design as primo carbon…
This is my favorite design. Either a 5 all wood or a 3 + 2. There is some flex to it and that in combination with the top layer (Canadian cypress) I think it will be a great compromise between spin and speed. I like at it as a tamed primo carbon. The coming season I will play with my current setup. But maybe för next season, I will need to get a backup blade before I change. The backup must be close in weight. If I am serious about changing I must use it for at least a whole season. It feels a little faster than my current setup so it’s right on track…

Cheers

It won't be soon. I'm lining up rewards for myself to motivate me to achieve important personal goals (non TT related). So far the rewards lined up are 3 blades (Nova Carbon, Yinhe Pro 01, Yinhe V 14) plus rubbers. Maybe I can call this "responsible EJing"

I did something similar. Starting low and going up in speed. The best sofas was Nittaku S-CZ. It has a great feel and easy to spin with, but it was a little slow so when blocking I became vulnerable. With my current setup my blocks are more vicious, but the drawback is the feel…
However I have a marginally better win rate with it…

Hello everyone! 🙋‍♂️

This is Andrea, and I’m excited to share my journey with the NOVA Carbon blade in this thread. As a mid-level player, I hope my experience can give some inspiration or resonance to players who are using or want to use this blade, which is why I wrote this article.🥰

To save everyone’s time, I will write my four combinations at the beginning, and you can see the reasons for my combinations later.
1. NOVA Carbon and Gear Hyper 38° * 2
2. NOVA Carbon and New Target National* 2
3. NOVA Carbon and New Target National( Boost)* 2
4. NOVA Carbon and New Target National( FH/ Boost) and Taiji Plus 2023(BH) 👉 Final choose

When our designers introduced the NOVA Carbon blade, I was immediately drawn to it. The design concept behind it focuses on explosive power which hit my spot exactly. So on the day it was launched, I asked our designer for one.😎

Gear Hyper on each side, a Balanced Combination🙌

Initially, I paired the NOVA Carbon with Gear Hyper38° rubbers on both sides. After gluing them on, I couldn’t wait to test it with the ball machine. I have to admit, this was a nearly foolproof combination. Whether for European or Chinese-style players, this setup felt incredibly reliable.
View attachment 33711
It provided a good balance of spin, power, and speed. When countering my opponent’s looping, I was able to generate great explosiveness. Every shot gave me confidence, and the blade's high power made me feel more dominant in my exchanges.

Facing Challenges, Finding the Best Combination🤔

However, when I took this racket to play against my friend, a key player on a Chinese university team, I quickly realized that there was an issue. While the setup was balanced, I found it difficult to produce the heavy-spin, fast forehand loops needed to break through his defense. As a player with a Chinese-style approach, I rely more on aggressive, forward-moving loops rather than high-arc ones, which made it tough to penetrate his solid defense.

After some reflection, I decided to switch to New Target National on the forehand and had my friend test it as well. The result was clear: using New Target National on the forehand with the NOVA Carbon gave us a lower, faster speed, and more spin. It also enhanced the explosiveness of my counterattacks when reacting to his loops.

Upgrading the Backhand;)

At his strong suggestion, I switched my backhand to New Target National as well. Many high-level Chinese players prefer this rubber on both sides because it allows them to produce faster, harder, and spinnier shots, provided their basic skills are solid enough to control it.

When I saw my friend using this setup, every shot seemed to be a spinning bullet, and the low, heavy spin allowed my forward loops to be significantly improved. But when it was my turn to use it, I realized a problem: my basic skills weren’t as strong as his, so my consistency dropped, and I lost a lot of unnecessary points.

SANWEI New Target National💥( It should be noted that as SANWEI brand, we don't advocate boosting, and can't provide quality assurance for product damage caused by boosting. )

To address this, we decided to boost both sides of the New Target National rubbers. We used Sanwei water glue, applying it twice, followed by Sea Moon oil twice, and then finished with another layer of Sanwei water glue.

After boosting, I immediately tested the setup and was pleasantly surprised. The blade’s explosive power was amplified even further, and the low throw angle that had been causing net balls disappeared. The throw angle became taller and the sponge becomes elastic. After practicing with the ball machine, I adapted to the changes and realized that this setup was the best fit for me.

Weight Considerations: A Necessary Adjustment

Over time, however, I noticed that this setup was a bit too heavy for me. The NOVA Carbon is not designed to be a lightweight blade, and with the added weight of the Sanwei Water Glue and Sea Moon boost, my racket ended up weighing around 192g. While the setup delivered tremendous power, the weight became a challenge.

After some careful consideration, I decided to sacrifice a bit of the backhand power to achieve a lighter combination. I switched my backhand rubber to Taiji Plus 2023, a lightweight rubber from Sanwei that is soft yet provides good spin due to its half-sticky top sheet. After switching to Taiji Plus 2023, the racket weight dropped to 186.7g, which was much more manageable for me. This lighter setup helped me win more matches and proved to be the perfect balance for my game. I now consider this setup to be my main racket.

Conclusion: Finding My Ideal Setup

In the end, the NOVA Carbon paired with boosted New Target National rubbers, and now with Taiji Plus 2023 on the backhand, has become my ideal setup. The combination of explosive power, precise control, and manageable weight has made a huge difference in my performance.

I hope my experience could be the combination for you. It’s especially suited for players like me who play with a Chinese-style approach and are striving to balance power, spin, and consistency.

Hello dear,

How are you?

I have used this combination for a short time.

The racket became a traditional European looping racket.

The ball is not slow, has a good arc, and has a perfect balance of spin and speed. But it is not suitable for me. Because I don't play a stalemate style, my style is fast attack with looping, a traditional Chinese style, which we call 'Solve the problem in the first three attacks'.

That's why I use target national for a fast second speed and a low arc.

Hi Andrea.
I am about to set up a Nova Carbon and I have a similar weight problem. Then I went back to this thread and finds out that You are using and happy with Taji Plus 2023.

Now... If You (from memory) would compare Taji Plus 2023 with Gear Hyper particularly.
Speed, perceived hardness and throw angle. (Spin I have no doubt).

For BH I prefer a low throw angle, higher speed than FH (I am currently using H3 non neo orange 39).

Is it worth while for me to try Tajii Plus 2023?

Cheers

Good morning,

For Gear Hyper and Taiji 2023, there are very different rubbers.

1. Though both the sponge of Taiji 2023 and Gear Hyper are the cake sponge, the hole of the Taiji 2023's is large.
Gear Hyper's is common size.

2. When you use Gear Hyper in your backhand it is more like a European bh rubber, non-stiky surface, cake sponge...
But the Taiji is more like a mix- rubber, half-stiky surface and cake sponge.

3. For speed, no doubt the Gear Hyper is faster.
4. For hardness, even the softest Gear Hyper is 37°, Taiji 2023 is about 35°.
5. For throw angle, to be honest both of them are not very low, if you want a low throw angle rubber for backhand, you'd better choose Gear Hyper 38°/39°.

Is it worth while for me to try Tajii Plus 2023?

It depends bro, I don't want to encourage people to buy irrationally.
1. If you want to try a mix-rubber, buy
2. If you want a light combintion, buy
3. You need a hard and low throw angle rubber, don't buy
4. You want high speed far from table, rather than control, don't buy

Thanks,

I used to play with 723 Dragon F but due to the weight I changed to Tibhar Hybrid MK FX. Together with my current blade I ended up with a low throw rather fast BH.
This combo is a dream to block with, so when doing emergency blocks a lot more shots went in, this what I like.

1. Already tried all types of rubbers.
2. My current blade is very head heavy so Yes. This actually depends on the Nova Carbon.

I think I may try that rubber…

Hello bro,

Thank you for your question.

Yes, you could see I have used this rubber.

It is a very good rubber for backhand. The reason we developed it is that some of our players said they want a good mix-rubber for pro-player, combining power, spin, speed, and allowing players to make low and aggressive bachand looping far from the table.

I promise the cake sponge is one of our best spring sponges; it is not very hard, can hold a very deep ball, and is very elastic.
IMG_5128.jpg

And at the same time, the half-sticky topsheet allowed players to make very good spin.

i need to know if this rubber is heavy like most sanwei rubbers, how is the catapult effect also and how fast is it

how about in comparision to gear hyper
They are very different rubber.

Target Player Edition is a mix-rubber; Gear Hyper is EU non-sticky rubber.

It depends on your play style to choose which one is better for you.

If your play style is more like a loop-attack player, Target PE is more fitness for you.
If your play style is more like a loop-control player or control player, you should try Gear Hyper.

okay , is there any faster rubber in the sanwei line than the target PE

Yes, of course.

Just for the speed:

Target National

Gear Hyper 39°

Target Blue

Target Europe
sorry the questions are too much , but i am just a lover of sanwei products and i am looking forward to switch to a light setup but very fast and spinny compiming of an all wood blade , sanwei v5 pro , and i was thinking of Gear Hyper 39° on both sides but i am skeptical if it is fast and has good spin to if and also , i don't really know about the weight also , mind you , i have heard the rubber is forgiving and i think that is something that might help me , but i recently just got confused when i came across the traget PE , i'd so much appreciate if you can advice me

Hello bro,

You are welcome, I'm very happy to answer to you.

I think this message could be helpful:

Spin: Gear Hyper 39°< Target PE
Speed: Gear Hyper 39°> Target PE
Weight: Gear Hyper 39°> Target PE

And I saw your balde is V5 PRO, I think if you use all wood blade, you'd better use Gear hyper.

Regards,
