My longtime friend and training partner plays Chinese penhold, but over the last years he's developed a lot of wrist pain when training due to tendon strain. Do you know of either:
- smaller/reduced headsize C-pen blades
- lightweight C-pen blades
?
He plays mid distance and is a pretty solid looper so looking for something decently powerful.

Cheers

I play (mostly) 1 sided chinese penhold but still have rubber on back, I was experimenting with a few setups but found most too light for me. The one I am currently using is a 729 premade which weighs ~193g. My old setup was neottec katana (red) + sanwei 75 outer (75g) + Palio AK47, which was ~168g total.

I am trying to look for a blade for a new setup, what blade do you recommend? I prefer maybe blades weighing at least 95g+

Calling out some experinced penholders for an advice

I have tried YEO, I think it works but doesn't suit the modern ball very well for power play

I have tried Viscaria (shakehand version with penhold), but I don't like for power looping -- the ball goes out too much for me.

I have tried w968 (again, shakehand version) and Stuor 301 clone (penhold version) -- these two I like the most, but w9968 requires very precisely well boosted h3 bs, then and only then it works wonders. Stuor 301 on the other hand plays well with national h3 os and bs boosted with 2 layers only, however the ball slips for some reason when I am doing blocks (doesn't happen with w968 and the same h3 os 37).

What high end blade would experienced penholders suggest with the composition similar to 301/w968 for powerful H3 forehand play? Would Stiga Dynasty be somewhere in between Viscaria and 301/hl5/w968 or not? Would that be something from Butterfly like Innerforce alc/zlc ? Or may be Hurricane King acB?
I want to get high end penhold blade with good QC, but not sure which one..or may be just DHS 301 would be good?

@Tony's Table Tennis I know you're an expert penholder! Please help :)

edit: Dynasty has pretty thick handle huh? I like thinner one on my 301 clone..

I have Viscaria too, I prefer Yinhe Pro2.
Pro 2 doesn't "goes out too much".

I haven't used Dynasty before

Absolutely not. I played with Visc, Dynasty and N301 in penhold and Dynasty is not in the middle. I had the same problem with Visc as you, but Dynasty feels more like an inner blade even compared even to N301 which IS an inner blade. Dynasty is really soft and woody, the carbon activates only when you hit quite hard, very all-wood feeling blade. For this reason i don't really like it. It does not give me as much support as N301 from mid distance, but it's a lot easier to play close to the table with Dynasty, it really shines in third ball atack. It's slower than Visc on slower stokes but a bit faster on hard hits. Bot are slower than N301. I can't really compare Dynasty directly to any other blade, it is unique.
