Lind has been playing amazing all tournament long and this is definitely another next level performance. He's always had world class finishing power on his shots but now he's somehow found a way to add more stability in rallies too. It's like he's finally found a formula to put all his weapons to work. The fact that it's good enough to beat both WCQ and now LSD is almost unbelievable.

This is all coming from a guy who just 4 years ago was in a serious car crash that left him with a high probability of paralysis.

Not long ago I remarked what a fine example of being a good teammate he was with Adriana Diaz. On multiple occasions (including at least once here to LSD) we've seen him show genuine acknowledgement of fine play by his opponents mid-match. And after playing what he described as "the best match of my life" tonight, he graciously acknowledged his coach by saying he wouldn't be top 200 without him and blew him a kiss.

Bravo, Mr. Lind.

Even before this tournament he was among the leaders in WR spots gained this year - and now he's beaten the WR1 LSD in China, after having never taken a game from him in two prior meetings.

Chen Xingtong & Han Ying going to expedite in the 2nd game. CXT seems to not understand.
It was surprising to me how much CXT was pushing earlier.

CXT does understand expedite - the discussion was about who gets to serve at 8:9 (whether Han Ying has another serve or whether the serve switches to CXT immediately).

So, did CXT aim for expedite from the start or not? I think there was a similar discussion here a while ago.

No, Hashimoto is quite different chopper, or you can say a much better chopper at this time, younger, more athletic, faster, much better offense and defense.

Anders Lind takes out LSD in 7 games 🔥

Congrats to Lind who played one of the best games in his life and in good form through this tournament. LSD also played well to his standards facing an experienced and unconventional player in Lind. LSD was still in the position to win in the last game except he unusually crumbed last half of the game making all sorts of unforced errors even WH's TO couldn't do anything to reverse the trend.

LSD is still young, give him more time.

In last Smash. LSD executed a FZD like net dribbler and he did it again this time. For a young player with such a nice touch is remarkable. His talent is undeniable.

It's obvious pushing for expedite rule is part of the game plan.

Notice, CXT actually has the forehand and backhand powering through HY. What she lacks is the confidence trusting her own power and her reading of the spin is also not as good as SYS and WMY. Once the expedite rule is in place, she has to loop when she serves and she loopkilled HY many times.

CXT has good stroke mechanic and explosiveness, if she can be more aggressive and self confident, she should be joining the top tier. But at her current level, she is good enough for all non-Chinese minus some good choppers to be blocked by her.

Unless you think Han Ying who beat Chen Yi foe the first time should have lost to CXT for the first time, it is clear that the CNT is addressing the problem. It might be harder to beat Honoka but they are definitely trying to close the loophole.

It very well migbt be. But we will see. Honoka is better than Han Ying but their styles are not that different. And as crazy as it might sound, playing for expedite against Honoka might be thr brst option for many attackers, because she tends to win the longer points. Forcing her to attack early and consistently might create more discomfort and keep her from doing what she enjoys most. Which is an important part of TT. But I agree with you that Honoka is better and a tougher player to beat

Our beloved professor ZYL got trumped by WMY who she just beat recently with a clean swept.

Well, revenge is powerful and sweet. For a competitive player, losing usually is the greatest motivator when she faces the same opponent again.

Now, look at statistics like, ML's record vs. someone was 18:0 or 20:0. What else can you say besides ML is just at different level than this poor fellow. It's equivalent like an active 2300 USA rated player playing against 1800 opponent. There are some good rallies and excellent plays by both players but 2300 always on the winning side.
