I just read the review again, i states that Sanwei sent the blade. I wonder if they knew they tested something that wasn’t official (or is it?).

The review mentions "production inconsistencies" as a drawback. It's a very odd thing to say in a review. I mean, how would they know if they received only one copy. Yet there's nothing in the review saying they received more than one.

I guess a plus/minus of 5g amounts to production inconsistency in the reviewer's POV:
"Weight-wise, my blade came in at 84g, which is just below Sanwei’s listed range of 90g ± 5g. I prefer a lighter blade, so this was good for me but speaks of there being quite a lot of weight variation in their production process.

+-5g is not unusual… If we compare the old and the new design the difference will be much greater.

Anyway I think both blades was good built. But if you don’t know what you’re getting… Two very similar blades would be Yinhe T1s and the little slower T2s. But I don’t know how the build on those are…

I will be following the history of this blade to see which one actually ends up as the long term production one…

Thats alright I have contact with @mocker88 . We shall see when the time comes if I need a new blade or not.
If I decide to play with it Yes, if not I don't need one, so it's no rush I will now by the beginning of next year (I think)

One interesting part is this review:

This review is for the test batch. Why would Sanwei send a blade from that batch to be officially reviewed. It makes it look like that is the intended final product.

Cheers

Great,
Yes, The Nova Carbon happens to be my favorite format.:
Hinoki - composite - Kiri - composite - Hinoki, wirth a thick outer layer and a little flex :)

I have high hopes for this blade.
Unfortunately I am slightly injured and need a lighter rack right now, but at the end of this Year i hope to test it.

Cheers

Will probably change to Nova Carbon earlier tha planned.

After my injury I played with a light blade and light rubbers. After 2.sessions I feel pretty good. Not perfect but good. But my game.suffered big time…

I will try to set up the Nova Carbon somewhere in between. It’s now 89g with griptape. If’s can keep it under 185g it may be OK, since the center of gravity got shifted downwards.

Also thank you @mocker88 for the excercises…

Cheers

Which rubbers are you planning to use with the Nova?

Hope you recover fully from whatever the injury was.
H3 39 prov orange for FH, undecided for BH.
One of our most common injuries , tennis elbow…

Played with my real racket today, and behold it didn’t few so bad…

Recovered (almost) from tennis elbow and...
I have now both versions of Carbon Nove and tonight I will test the original one (not the test version)
I will use:
FH: H3 prov BS 39
BH: Andro Nuzn 45

I will get back late tonight with a brief commentary.

I can play with this combo. I would give the blade an off -to off rating. Fast enough for me and easy to loop with. But the great feeling I was hoping for was missing.

The rubber Nuzn 45 I think could work as a replacement for Tibhar Hybrid MK FX. But if get to choose my choice would still be Tibhar.

The FH was a little bit more difficult to control specially with my recently injured tennis elbow. There is a little bit more power in Blue sponge compared to orange sponge but it’s also a little harder to get to. I still have some Blue sponge sheets left, but I think next time I will go for orange to save my elbow…

And also I will stick with this combo for a while but eventually go back to my SDC no:1…

Had a session tonight Sunday again. Much better feeling. I hit the ball better and the feel was much much better. I think now I adjusted for the weight difference. Didn’t feel restricted by my tennis elbow at all and this is really good news. I may have to think twice about H3 BS vs H3 OS…

The bottom line is I like nova carbon more after this session..,.

Had another session last night and this time it felt really good. Still not quite happy with my BH rubber though. But I don’t want to change yet.

The problem I am having is when I get the ball fast close to the body on BH I don’t close the blade enough so I overshoot. I need a bit more time but it’s getting better. This problem was a less when I played with a Nittaku long 5 all wood (5 layers ayous) and Tibhar Hybrid MK FX on BH. It was a bit faster, don’t mind this and my BH was deadly. The problem there was the feel. It didn’t feel good to hit the ball and I really like each stroke to feel good. This blade now feels good again but I have a problem keeping my backhand low. It may or may not get better with the Tibhar rubber. we will find out when it’s time to change.

Anyway för someone looking for a moderately fast blade with good feel I now feel comfortable to recommend this one.

Cheers

This is getting better and better, I think my H3 Prov BS is finally broken in. I get a nice feel now. Also getting along better with my BH (Nuzn 45). The original real version of this blade I can recommend. I will continue to play this one for now...

I have now had time to extensively test the (original) nova carbon. I must say I really really like it. It’s fast enough with a little flex and my now broken in H3 BS 39 has a great feel to it. It loops great close to the table and it also with good push game specially with H3. I have a little hard time top spinning on BH but that’s me not the set up… With Nuzn 45 on BH I I get enough speed and it’s easy to control, the blocking game is excellent. FH blocks decent too but the shots are less dangerous due to the H3 rubber.

Bottom line, if you are a mostly offensive player but need control and enjoy a little softer play this may be for you.

I will rate this blada All++ to Off-.

Cheers
