I just want to take a moment to commend the technicians for how the sound is mastered here. Everything is so crisp and so nicely balanced.

Like somebody said in the past "just retired". Who is better player - of course Ito, but she needs to hire some mental coach. Also I cannot understand why she just can't play slower spinny from time to time. Risky shots are far less safer.

Ito has reached her limit as she admitted in early 2022. Otherwise, she wouldn't have added she might not play another 4 years in late 2024. Zhang Rui retiring also in late 2024 indicated the CNT had stopped deeming her as a threat (prepping for her style). As many in mainland China said, her two bronze medals at World Cup 2025 and WTTC 2025 were merely 撿漏/snagging a bargain off of WYD.

From the way she ditched Matsuzaki (here and here), no coach with a sound mind would dare approach her.

Good explanation. Just to mention there was one crutial point in the 4th set. Ito was leading I think 9:4 and Samara played very strong BH and FH to finish the ball. They were both laughing. Samara thought nice point at least this would be good to rememeber and started playing very relaxed. It thought good for you but I will kill you next ball. That was good moment to take time out, but she did not, the waited untill it was too late. Anyway I am happy with Samara win, she deserved it.
